can anyone tell me any side projects connected to the Swedish disbanded band Burst? I've been scouring the internet but i can't seem to find any projects any of the members are working on...

DBlitz 03-15-2011 01:12 AM

uh, maybe they don't have any side projects then?

http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=15620

looks like one of the members was in Nasum and another two were in bands i've never heard of.

willfellmarsy 03-15-2011 07:18 AM

i mean they broke up, i doubt they'd all just stop making music...i was hoping wizard/cocaine/someone with more knowledge about the band would respond, i knew about the nasum connection because that's on the cd case, thanks anyway though...

Txus 03-15-2011 09:04 AM

they aren't doing anything

2muchket! 03-23-2011 05:45 PM

I'm after some good modern r&b like Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean and The-Dream.

Both mainstream and underground recs welcome, because this type of thing doesn't necessarily cross over to the UK charts all the time.

Help a fwanky owwt.

Nepenthe 03-23-2011 06:21 PM

you just named the only good ones lol. usher is the only other one that i listen to. his last album raymond v. raymond was pretty good and as good a place as any to start.

i guess r. kelly is good too his album 12 play is considered one of the best modern r&b albums there is

Nepenthe 03-23-2011 06:24 PM

*forgot about akon he's good shit

2muchket! 03-23-2011 06:25 PM

I've only paid attention to r kelly and usher's singles, but I will check them out further.

Tyler 03-23-2011 06:55 PM

Maxwell is better than anyone you just named.

Nepenthe 03-23-2011 07:18 PM

Bands like The Black Dahlia murder

Hey,

does anyone of you guys know any bands that sound as melodic/swedish as TBDM? Because I do enjoy this band after giving them a second try.

normally, I would go to lastfm but that place only links me to crappy deathcore bands like whitechapel and so on.

metaleyes 04-04-2011 12:15 PM

You should check out the new power metal band REVERENCE. They sound pretty cool. Members from Savatage/Crimson Glory, Tokyo Blade and Burning Starr. Very cool line up.

This isn't the place to make arbitrary, random suggestions.

can I get some jazz recs? Stuff similar in spirit to Coltrane and Mingus.
can I get some jazz recs? Stuff similar in spirit to Coltrane and Mingus.
sure :)

Bobby Hutcherson - Dialogue
Cannonball Adderley - Somethin' Else
Eric Dolphy - Out to Lunch
Hank Mobley - No Room for Squares
Dexter Gordon - Go!
Charlie Parker - Yabird Suite
Pharoah Sanders - Karma
Sonny Clark - Cool Struttin
Sonny Rollins - Saxophone Colossus
Wayne Shorter - Speak No Evil

Those are basically my favorite jazz albums, and of course most things from the early Miles career. I fucking hate his fusion shit except for Bitches Brew.

P13 04-04-2011 03:10 PM

I agree on your comment on miles, most people I know feel the same, too.

Thanks a lot

Nepenthe 04-04-2011 04:33 PM

serious lack of thelonious monk and bud powell. and i like stick up! for my bobby hutcherson.

Txus 04-04-2011 04:38 PM

oh yeah, i missed thelonious, monk's dream and brilliant corners are both quite good

i don't have any bud powell, what should i get?

Nepenthe 04-04-2011 05:08 PM

'the lonely one' and 'moods' are my faves of what i've heard

Txus 04-04-2011 05:17 PM

thanks :)
can I get some jazz recs? Stuff similar in spirit to Coltrane and Mingus.
depends on what era of mingus/coltrane you're taking about. i'll just assume you mean late 50s/early 60s.

Freddie Hubbard - Ready for Freddie
Art Blakey - Moanin'
Hank Mobley - Soul Station
Herbie Hancock - Empyrean Isles
Sonny Rollins - Saxophone Colossus
Horace Silver - Finger Poppin'
Thelonious Monk - Brilliant Corners

Txus 04-04-2011 10:22 PM

That's the best Hancock record.

Morumbar 04-14-2011 10:16 AM

Can you guys recommend me something as dark and oppressing as Worship's Dooom?
