Hey! nice song man, I liked it. Reminds me of a sort of mixture of Mars Volta, Hundred Reasons, ATDI etc. etc. You all sound tight as a band, so no reason you couldn't do something with this. I suppose my only suggestion would be to perhaps bring something unique to the genre, something that stylistically defines you as a band. You influences are very clear and apparent, and obviously that's not a bad thing. Everyone is influenced by someone! But perhaps in the future, expand on those influences, create an aspect of your music that will make people listen to your songs and say "hey, check it out - that's Beloved Tragedy!!! :) But other than that, yeah i liked it. Good performances all round, look foward to hearing more.

*thumbs up*

G--------------------------------------------9----9---9--
D---7--7--9--7--7h9h10---7---9----------------------

Dancin' Man
09-27-2003, 09:32 AM
a melodic singer. preferably someone with a massive range but at least someone who can hit high notes. but not a screamer. the music could really benifit from a good melodic voice. a sound maybe like the singer from "ours" would work really well i thik. falcetto and such would soud really cool in the heavy parts. you also have amillion really nice openings for a cool lyric where most everything else kinda dies off and some profound words would fit nicely then explode into the next part. good work write more songs like falling darkness. adrenalin was too spastic sounding too rushed but falling darkness despite being fast had a more fulfilling sound too it so it was able to match the speed.

ok...yo definitely don't want a screamer...at least not for falling darkness, you want someone with a melodic voice whwo can sing/scream when needed...and maybe scream, but the quiet part you efinitely want melodic and the loud part you want a sora singing sorta screaming...or maybe that's just what i want you to have. Yea i usually don't listen to this kind of music but i think this is really good.

awsome work guys........I really love the instrumentals you guys write.....it reminds me of Thursday and other hardcore bands...alot like Atreyu my favorite band in the hardcore genre I think if you broke it down somewhat like Varkataz(leadsinger of Atreyu) you guys could get a nice blend with a screaming vocalist but not all screamers would work..perhaps one similar to the vocalist for the Mars Volta

diamondschwin
11-28-2003, 10:23 PM
you guys most remind me of this band Funeral For a Friend... they are on an indie label from wales... but now there have a 7 song ep available at most FYEs oddly enough.... i think some distribution deal went down there... but anyway... you guys are sick.... i think its really awesome... and i mean your def. pegging into the emo/metal/ punk genre but you guys def. seem to hang with the best of them... keep up the good work... and keep at it... i mean you can go to college and still have a little cd out no harm in that :-D

Before I praise you, I must also say that the bassdrum sounds weak, and it definately does need a lower and "beefier" sound.

I find that rather entertaining actually thats how I am recognized. No worries, I think 4/5 times someone writes my name on these forums, they use an "I" insead of "L". Every so often I see someone that writes an "L", I get excited, its actually pretty pathetic . I dont know if you were joking or not, but "ivyshorty"?? I'm sorry you didn't like it. We like to think its more than just what every other local band out there does today... it seems to me, most bands out there are playing power-chord styled songs, and just recycling power chords over and over for an entire album. I'd like to believe that we do much more than that for our songs, but if you didn't like it, then you didn't like it. Sorry :(

Falling Darkness and Obsession were really good. If you guys come out with an album, I'll buy it too. You definitely need a singer - I agree something in the style of The Mars Volta might work. I'm not real into screaming but it's effective in small doses.

Did you take Falling Darkness off? It says there's only 9 songs for Beloved Tragedy, and Falling Darkness isn't there (yet there's 9 songs listed). Obsession is great, though. I'm not sure if I agree with everyone on you getting a vocalist though, because that can make or break a great band like this. Just make sure he's badass if you do. ;)

Yeah, we recorded it like that because at the time of recording, we planned on putting in lyrics... and most songs you hear with lyrics being sung, the verses are sung usually over the same guitar progressions... so we repeated alot in order to compensate for lyrics, and can adjust and take sections out later if needed. The philosophy was that it was better to record to much and take out what you dont need, as opposed to not recording enough and try and add back in later. So we have alot of repetition to accomdate for lyrics

Even though this is a little harder than my usual, I liked it very much!

Great Production :thumb:
Excellent Song (writting/arrangment) :thumb:
Good mix
great dynamics :thumb:
The song begs for a vocal line, maybe like Ronnie James Dio style

You should record Falling Darkness with a vocalist. I've already put it onto my mp3 player :).

I dont particularly care, but how did you rip it? How do you rip streaming music? Ive always wanted to know how to do that,

What do you mean by "wing it"? I did look at the tab while learning it, but I can admit there were small little sections where I maybe changed up a note or so. So I learned most of it, but I might have "winged it" for a few notes here and there.

yeah thats cool, its not like everyone is going to get all those notes completely right, i know i dont get all the notes completely right.

so how long have ur band been together?

Nice.
I liked your originals better than the covers. Falling darkness was the best.
I think I glanced over the thread and saw you said your singer was a screamer? Nah...that ain't gonna work. You guys deserve better. But not a wimp singer either, someone forceful but not screaming.

Well, it was a screamer at first, but we decided to tone it down a bit from that... were not totally sure what we are doing, and parts of it will definitely still have that hardcore touch... but not necessarily screaming.

I just kinda play Circles for fun... and the band has been together for probably over 2 years. I'm not even sure.

well keep the band together, and honestly i believe, but this might just be me, but if u want a front man, someone who represents your band, make it someone who is already in your band, because getting a singer in who just sings is well good, but it often takes the focus away from ur bands actuall phenomenal instrumental talent. Also a lot of ppl naturally presume that the singer owns the band, and i hate that!

Last time I checked this thread was for this guys band, not yours.

Also, I don't like how the quality of the mp3 crackles when it all gets loud, very ugly.

Nice work though, I'm quite enjoying it.

Also, how do you rip streaming music? Under volume settings, instead of selecting microphone under recording, you select Stereo Mix :)

I believe you have to go to Control Panel - Sounds - Advanced Volume Controls - Click Options - Click Properties - Check Recording - And select Stereo Mix

as many of replies of this post that were made, i am ashamed that none of u know that theses are ALL covers, lemme see, circles, A COVER, eugenes trick bag, that is writen by the ONE the only STEVE VAI. theses recordings are played like half the speed they should be, i give the credit that they are played well but the creative value is just simply not there. \

to the dude that recorded this stuff, made ur own music then take credit for it, ill stick around to see what u will post in the future, but dont take credit for stuff that isnt yours especially when it belongs the vituosos that actually did spend the days, the hours to get that **** across the board.

Way to not read the first post or the rest of the thread. In the first post, I clearly stated I recommended listening to Falling Darkness (an original song) first. The three songs at the very bottom of the soundclick page are my three originals (Obsession, Adrenaline, and Falling Darkness). Every other song, not once, did I claim for them to be my own.

Not only for each song that I covered did I put a picture representing that artist (the double-guitar for Michael Angelo, the Chromeboy for Satriani, the Peavey guitar for Van Halen, the ESP for Metallica, the Ibanez Jem [Vai Signature] for Vai's material).... not only did I put icons representing that they were cover's, but if you read them at all, they all say "My attempt at insert song title here" or "My cover of insert song title here".

Just glancing on the soundclick page, you can tell I never dared say that material is my own... "This is the entire song Circles by Joe Satriani". I gave Satriani credit for Circles... "My acoustic cover of Joe Satriani - Tears In The Rain": Again, I gave Satriani credit for writing that song.

The bottom three songs of the page with the Soundclick logos on them are completely original and written by me and my band. I NEVER claimed to have written the covers that are on that page, and I don't think anyone who has posted in this thread besides you has thought that I claimed to be taking credit for writing those songs. If I may, I'll go as far as accepting your compliment in saying that they were played well though. You did comment on that alot of it is not up to speed, however, Circles and the Master of Puppets solos are two that are both up to speed... I did play them with a backing track, so they have to be up to speed :thumb:

Falling Darkness, Obsession, and Adrenaline are 100% original songs. Please, take a listen to any or all of these three songs.

Even though it's not exactly my favorite genre of music, I loved it, and would most definately purchase an album if you and your bandmates create one in the future. Hopefully, You'll get a good singer, and have some really powerful lyrics to support the powerful music. Goodjob, You've inspired and enlightened me.

that was AMAZING. great riffs, and a screamer like as i lay dying or maybe like the used would be sick so keep up the good tunes. It was way chill. Tight compositions as well. ill shut up now.

Well played guys. The triplet beatdowns sound bo. It was a BIT like riff1, riff2, riff3, riff1, riff2 etc, but if you cut out all the repeats, it would be sexy. Unless, you get a singer who gives it some kinda lyrical progression...like a story or something...? Then that would take the focus away from the fact you are repeating yourself so much. But dont get me wrong, this is the best thing i have heard on here by far! Everything is tight and sexy and generally a bit of a beast. It is like FFAF and stuff, but thats cool, especially if you say you are just having fun! Hey i wish I could have fun that well!

Check MY stuff on purevolume.com/loveburger
and purevolume.com/sprokit

Not as tight as your stuff, but i am proud of it.
