So people, seeing as nobody rarely posts a review on the review part of Sputnik. I turn to the forum. Part of the reason I joined Sputnik is to broaden my horizons in hip-hop (I only own 421 songs on my iPod) So, what's/who's good in the world of hip hop right now? Thanks.

hey, good to see you here at the forums. one much lesser-known album that i like a lot is G-Side - Starshipz and Rocketz, they're a duo from Alabama with some great production and good lyrics.
also pretty much everything posted at http://www.cocaineblunts.com/blunts/ is good

Name a few artists you listen to ?
There's lots of different types of hip hop and people usually only like certain styles and not others

The ones I follow most extensively are....
1. Gucci Mane
2. Three 6 Mafia
3. Waka Flocka Flame
But of course I like others. I like Frayser Boy and Chrome. And I enjoy Eazy-E and N.W.A. But I don't own extensively the discography of the most recently mentioned four. There are artists I like and I find very talented (Big Six, Franchise, Beatdealaz, Tusche Costa, etc.) but they haven't released alot of material. For example: The Black Ghost is one of my favorite rappers I like but he's only released one album/mixtape. Just to name a few right there...

Eazy-E is sweet, all the studio albums are pretty good

No Ceilings was a 2.5. I did a review on it, it's not that good. Better than Tha Carter III, though.

did you dig the new freeway?
All his albums but Philadelphia Freeway blow. His stuff with Jakk Frost is quality and the Freelapse is going to be hilarious.

not much of a freeway fan. downloaded Paul Wall - Peoples Champ recently and the Freeway verse was pretty much the worst verse on it.

Do any of you remember MC Ren? The former N.W.A member? Well, he released a new album October 31st this year. It's called "Renincarnated". It's really good. Did a review on it.

you completely didn't answer my question at all
Bulldog

I agree with illmitch. You said Lil Wayne has no integrity, but you didn't explain why that's relevant.
exredhouseresident
11-14-2009, 08:31 PM
If you don't see the relevance of having integrity as an artist, there's really no use in explaining. Its not one of those epiphanic things were hearing an explanation unravels some deep recess of knowledge.
illmitch
11-14-2009, 09:09 PM
for one thing, you have yet to explain how lil wayne lacks integrity
for another thing, you have yet to explain how that can keep you from enjoying quality hip hop
for a third thing, you're an asshat

The beat gets really annoying after a while, but it's a good song to show his potential. He has a great flow.
illmitch
11-14-2009, 11:52 PM
yeah, the beat isn't the best, but the lyrics are amazing IMO. i still have a soft spot for political rap despite all my anti-conscious hip hop posturing, and Pill does it very well.
