Wasn't sure if this would be "alt/indie" or "other music," but I wanted to talk about some of the good ole classic folk artists - James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, Kris Kristofferson, Joni Mitchell, etc. Any other fans? I've been going through a folk phase lately...been trying to find Lightfoot's "Summertime Dreams" album but all of the torrents are corrupted FLACs. (wtf? ). Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald = pwn. I'm starting with the classics...been whoring Sweet Baby James by JT and now I'm listening to Joni Mitchell's "Blue." Kristoffersen's ST was great....kinda funny to picture Janis or Johnny Cash sing them, as Kris wrote like half of their material.

So, yeah...discuss 60's/70's folk.

Yeah, Arlo's great. I remember performing "Alice's Restaurant" with some friends at a Cover competition. Most of the songs people played were 3-4 minute pop songs, and we busted out the 20 minute epic...was great.

Just entered a contest to not only see Earth Wind & Fire, but Chicago too. The two legendary bands are going to perform at a private concert in NYC. I hope I win! Here’s the link for all of you to enter, good luck!

Not to be a prick, but since when is folk music from the 60's/70's considered classic?
