So I got stung $145 and sent a threat in the mail that my motorbike license will be revoked if I don't pay up for not voting in the local council election last year. Lame.
I'm listening to Chumbawamba's Nevermind The Ballots, gimme anti-voting music, tongue in cheek and the more oi's the better.

Yep, if you don't pay fines for not voting it would seem the government here has power over the roads and transport authority to take your license away as penalty, with the letter bolded with the words pay immediately they mean serious business. I rang them up and apparently I have only one chance to pay it within a few days or my license is made invalid and I cannot drive.
A few other people I know have received this letter, i'm pretty sure its only something recent. I wonder how many people are out there driving who forgot to vote and don't check their mail >_< Personally, I didn't vote because I was distracted with work at the time and missed all the local councils flyers and pamphlets they sent in the mail because my housemate would have automatically rubbished them, but I don't care one way or the other where the latest roundabout is going to be erected around here so I don't see why as someone completely uneducated in politics and local affairs that I should be punished for disrespecting this ridiculous system.
It could be worse I suppose, but it seems they find so many reasons to legally sting you for as much money as possible and so I rage.
