if you dl the .txt file he tells you to search "Selection" to see his recommended albums as a starting point.

the only band i really recognized in there was cap'n jazz who i really like. are there any other similar/better in there i should know of?

Not better, but Bells on Trike are worth a listen!
Bells on Trike and 125, Rue Montmartre. If Rockets and Blue Lights are up on there, you should check them out, too. They are nice. They don't really sound like Cap'n Jazz but who gives a ****.
