saw them at the hollywood bowl with the new pornos and tegan & sara; they played with the L.A. philharmonic for the last six songs or so and it was dead sexy - fireworks and everything.

Tegan and Sara is probably just one person who's awesome at mirror tricks.
And death cab is too good.

I like the sounds, but all the lyrics are pretty fake, Ben Gibbard can't possibly relate to all the things he writes about :/

newest album didn't do it for me. that aside they're pretty much THE quintessential northwestern pop band.

Indeed.
I'll have to hear one of their songs by accident. This happened to me with Of Montreal, after putting off listening to them for no particular reason other then that they are a popular indie band I ended up liking them.
A lesson should be learnt here. I don't do popular indie. But I listen to these indie bands after I hear them by accident and enjoy them. Does this make sense? Probably not.

I really like them. Avoided them for so long because they're the flag bearers of the pretentious brigade, but I really like them musically, and Jason McGerr's drum sound is always impecable.

I've done that before too. I've never really checked out Of Montreal either. Death Cab are definitely for the gays though.
