I found both vids funny, lol @ iron man riff in the second one. sounds just like the guy in the corner at a party drunk with a guitar and an amp trying to shred (ie. me)
leave bengal alone he is 40 years old and listens to opeth, he rules

I am still partial to the artists/founders of metal and listen to many of them off and on.
Deep Purple
Black Sabbath
Alice Cooper
Led Zeppelin
Jeff Beck
Pink Floyd
I also like other stuff I grew up with of course
Van Halen
Def Lepperd
Saga - Very underated Canadian band
Rush
Kim Mitchell
Journey
Zappa
I could go on and on
I like Opeth because I hear very strong influences of some of the above, primarily Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. Some of the muted tones also remind me of Al diMeola who I also admire but not sure if he was an influence or not.

Wow, how original. Someone dubbed a shitty shred over an already shitty shred. It's hilarious.

i'm pretty sure the guitarists of the group were fans of jazz from an interview i've read

You are absolutely correct
Got me curious so I went to Mikaels myspace and his music interest is huge.
Freaked me out though as way at the bottom of the page list Al Dimeola and now I feel real good that its possible I am not crazy.
Give Dimeola a listen if you havent . Great tone and guitar playing. Kinda latin fusion

i've only listened to elegant gypsy and his work in later era Return to Forever, I love it. I've noticed so much musical elitism whenever Al Di Meola gets mention though, supposedly he is a hack because John McLaughlin exists which seems kinda ridiculous to me.

That could very well be. I liked listening to him when I was young. I heard he was very disciplined with his craft and my guitar teacher at the time suggested listening to him
