I wish to gather some opinions regarding the idea of the state. Should it abolished? Should people give themselves to it and work for the common good? Is it terrible, it is good? Is there far too much blood on its hands, or not enough?
What is your opinion of this entity?

The state is still a useful and (mostly) legitimate form of social organization, so it get major props for that. But it isn't the only one and the state should not expect that all social processes should be geared towards it. The biggest danger is when its decision making powers gets hijacked by certain sectors of society without giving recourse for others to challenge it, be that the law or other bodies that monitor for transparency. Like any other entity it's not perfect and is prone to abusing its power, which is why we have to always remain skeptical about 'giving ourselves to it'. We make up the state, but the state does not make us who we are.

It's the culmination of a long, complex historical process and it will continue to be around as long as people find it useful.

No then authority would be too centralized.
Humankind is far too diverse for one state to work.

06-21-2009, 08:12 PM
ok then there should be an east state and a west state
or maybe the east needs more than one idk much about the east
but the west only needs one

-Florida
-Texas
-Great Lakes Area
-Midwest
-Rocky Mountains

but what does diversity have to do with one state not being able to work i don't get itAre you joking? We have enough problems getting two different ethnic groups to live together or something, let alone hundreds of them.

well, i suppose the problem with the one state thing that was alluded to was that its impossible to legislate and come to agreement on laws that reflect the general will once the the population becomes too diverse. Least, assuming that having your opinions reflected in laws is the goal.
for example, take America. One united front? Naw. Always a tension between the central federal government and the individual states wanting autonomy to achieve their unique agendas. Same with all the really big countries like India, China or Russia. Or like Quebec in Canada.
Hence, if its so difficult already on this smaller scale, imagine how hard it would be to have *one* world state. Somebody's culture here or there would likely have to be trampled upon.

No that's not really something Hitler did he just killed people instead of remaking them into his ideal person.
Well he did do that but mostly to Germans.

well most people are way past the point of remaking The One State would probably have to kill them and just take their children

K I'll phone the ZOG and let them know we've secured a considerable supply of Christian children for their Passover matzah.
