A good rule of thumb if you want to start with a group is to search them on rateyourmusic or another site I can't remember the name of and see which album has the most votes/highest ratings. This doesn't necessarily mean you will get the best album to start with but these type of threads tend to end up with little more then the groups most popular album being whored and a whole lot of minor disagreements against it.

Start a Tom Waits thread and see how long it takes for Rain Dogs to get mentioned.

13 songs is probably the best place to start since it is (a collection of) their first recording(s), although repeater is my favorite

i still have yet to listen to red medicine, end hits, and the argument though

I like starting with the first albums of bands, so Repeater. but In on the Kill Taker is probably the best.

if you want them back when they were true punx 13 songs or preferably repeater

if you want to hear one of the best albums ever, the argument.

13 Songs is the only one of theirs that I own; it's friggin tight. It makes me want more, so I'd say that's a good place to start.

Since ,IMO, they don't have a bad album and have a fairly consistent style, why not start from the beginning with 13 Songs.
