tim burton is the wrong director to do this

why? - is it because it just seems such a predicable choice?

One of my friends is so excited about this - she's a touch loligoth

all he's going to do is make it mallgoth and hot topic like most of his other films and as usual through any other substance out the window

Johnny Depp going to the Mad Hatter as well, I think.

It does seem that everyone already thinks they know what the film will be like because it's Tim Burton - makes it a bit less exciting to see.

I'd like to see if he's able to apply a light enough touch to it for Alice - could really mess with the whimsy otherwise.

while i do think tim burton was a good director, i wasn't a huge fan of the books. Now I thought Alice in Wonderland was good but overrated (don't know if they're doing a combination of the two, or just that one book) Through the Looking Glass didn't capture my attention at all

Big Fish is the best thing burton has ever done.

Never had a real problem with Tim Burton. He overdoes it a little bit but I haven't seen a film by him that I haven't at least slightly enjoyed. This will probably be no different.

jan svankmejers alice will remain the only creepy adaption of the story that matters much

Luc214

is that a good svankmejer film to start with?

burtons will be decent enough i'm sure, for my money svankmejer has scraped closer to the subtle, nightmarish tone of the book then anyone else could ever get though. he has a way of perverting childhood innocence that always captures my attention.

Yes I take back my statement about not seeing a Burton movie I didn't enjoy as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was not a good movie.

sleepy hollow and the first batman were pretty cool

i like tim burton but it seems the only thing he's thought up himself in the last ten years was corpse bride, like planet of the apes and charlie and the chocolate factory (which both sucked) were remakes, sweeney todd was based on a play (which was ok) big fish was a book (which was good)

i'll probably end up seeing this

I remember watching the Svenkmajer adaption alone in the room in the dark. Never will I do that again.

Burton did a terrible job with Charlie & the Chocolate Factory and I expect him to do equally as bad with this. Burton's cartoonish/nightmarish style is getting old.

i've done this a number of times :p it's pretty fun to watch stoned as well, though the lack of music is a bit of a minus

Burton's brought together a great cast so it will be very interesting to see how this turns out.

And that's as close to seeing this movie as I will ever come.

Though Anne Hathaway is still going to be hot...
