i saw man man last summer and they were purddy good. they kept it pretty real and didnt let the cuckoo slip out of their hands you know. BUT HOWEVER i was wundering if you guys knew any crazy circus punkish gypylike bands like that that also made that kind of music. also discuss the ambiguously homoerotic potential in their name

I don't know of anyone exactly like Man Man. I always look for 'similar artist' recommendations on sites like last.fm, but they are never the same. They're definitely one of the craziest live bands around and I'm glad I've been able to see them so many times, being from the same city. This might be your best bet:

hey JOE YOU BASTARD i kno that!! but i was wonderin if anyone knew any crazy local bands that are getting bigger or something... i like the icy demons and i got them from there, anything with a kooky flavor to it like that, you know.. but gypsy like carnival music is getting really popular these days. and it doesnt even have to be like man man, just some weird band like them. similar weirdness.

Yeah I didn't know anything about them until I saw them live last year...dudes are crazy. Strange combinations of sounds with more percussionists than you can shake a stick at. I haven't listened to their recorded stuff but wonder if it could possibly stack up to their live show...thoughts? Album recommendations?
