Some of you may of seen my post a few weeks back saying about how some pro mark sticks had tore my hands up; (http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/showthread.php?t=573689)

After I'd made that post, Damo sent it to Pro-Mark so they could have a gander at what had happened, and in less than a day I had an email from Pat Brown at Pro-Mark hq asking for some more info.

I told him what had happened and he emailed straight back with some suggestions on what might of gone wrong (I was using an uncoated sick by the looks of i, from thier 'naturals' range). He was great about the whole thing, and offered to send me out sopme other sticks to try! RESULT.

A few days later a parcel drops through my door, containing;

1 x Pair of 5B Shira Kashi Oak Wood Tip sticks
1 x Pair of 5B American Hickory Wood Tip Sticks (coated)
1 x Pair of 5B Pro Grip Wood Tip Sticks

Hows that for customer service eh? Not bad I thought.

SO far I've only tried the shira kashi ones, and I must say they are awesome sticks, great feel and really durable, very impressed. I've always been a Vic Firth 5B/SD9 guy but these Shira Kashis may well of won my heart.

The Pro Grip ones seem to have some light coating round the butt end to make them sticker I guess, not tried these yet but I'll report back when I've put them through thier paces.

All in all I'm dead impressed with pro-mark, theyve definately gone out of thier way for me and the service has been A* stuff. Many thanks to Pat Brown and Damo too for personally sorting it all out. :thumb:

Lewis.

(more to come when I've played with the other 2)

that's ridiculous/awesome. that's a good $20 worth of sticks right there. that's some serious customer service. i've always liked promarks stuff plus they're from texas and their sticks have a little silhouette of texas which i like. lol

The naturals take a while to get used to... sure, you shouldn't have to do that with a drum stick, but after a while they were the best sticks I've ever bought. For 3 years I've played nothing but 747/2B natural hickory.

I don't mind the naturals as far as how they feel. I use their oak sticks (same as yours but in a 5A) just cause they weight a bit more, but the coating they add is nice. Natural sticks have almost more of a "dry" feeling.

Glad to see your having a much better experience now. :)

Happy to help, Lewis.

Its like Ive always been saying - ProMark are a CLEAR STANDOUT when it comes to their level of service. Their philosophy of going 'that little bit extra' is actually the foundation of how they run their business over there, and I am genuine when I say that you are dealing with very caring, ultra cool people at ProMark.

I always find myself liking a band's drummer a little more if I see them playing Pro-marks :).

I normally use Vic Firths, but this makes me wanna use ProMark more. Just cause they clearly care about their customers. Not that I need the customer service, but it just seems like a good plan to support them.

I usually play with Vic firth (5A) but last week I tried a pair of Pro mark...so..I can't play with this pair!..i don't know why!...maybe they are a different balance..

lord groove: The ProMarks are in fact based on the ORIGINAL sizing - As it was the ProMark guys who invented many of the sizes that have now been copied and modified by other manufacturers.

Do they do a stick comparable to the VF lang sig? I quite like the feel of pro-mark but i don't like their sizing much

Yes, the Dennis DeLucia SD23, which is what I use. They are maple though.

This isn't all just out of the kindness of their hearts, it is more of a long-term investment. Still nice of them though.

Good customer service is always a plus.

Promark's website is as unintuitive as they come, though; their naming system never fails to confuse the hell out of me.

They wouldn't be giving out all those sticks if it didn't.

Because you liked to collect your own blood for a planned event 20 years later where you showered a house in blood?

no actually it was just to test how much lead i was breathing in. but that's still brutal as fck right?

Wow, how is that sanitary at all? I would throw any pair of sticks I got out no matter whose blood were on them.

The brutalist of them all.

And I hope your lead levels weren't too high.
