Warcraft II:
- Tides of Darkness
- Beyond the Dark Portal
perhaps the game I have played most throughout my life. I recently bought the Battle.Net version. I am currently busy sucking hard at http://server.war2.ru/, so I can't stay on here for long. anyway - I just wanted to shout out that I love this game, and that if any of you people still play this - RESPECT. and tell me what servers you play. we should hook up so you can beat me (no really, I am awful at online play).

I used to play it, and still do occasionally, but I'd never want to play with you. :upset:

isnt this the game where both playable teams are EXACTLY the same? like, every single stat is identical to the other teams exact counterpart?

Its far from perfect, and the graphics were out of date before the game was even released, but it was great fun and each team had CHARACTER

The spells and some of the upgrades were the only differences between races. And I thought the graphics were pretty decent at the time.

I remember I started my first game at eight in the evening, and when I checked the clock a little later, it was two at night. Needless to say, I dug it. :thumb:
That was about ten years ago. I've installed it recently, now all I need is a little more time to actually play it.
Yes master. Okay!

Warcraft III has a great story, wonderful graphics and all that jazz - but the gameplay is not nearly as fun over time. it's too fast. too "build farm, barracks, out and explore". same thing over and over. and the lack of sea units is bad. but I will play through Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne again after playing through Tides of Darkness and Beyond The Dark Portal. might even give Orcs & Humans a go. it's a wee bit slow though.

there are multiple differences. the most important ones being the Paladin/Ogre-Mage and the Mage/Death Knight. but on multiplayer using the more advanced map editor War2Xed (or whatever it was called), you can pretty much do anything you want. I dig making the teams real unbalanced (e.g. make one team rule the sea and close combats, and the other rule long-ranged units and building health or whatever).
