And why these tunes are exceptions.

Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass - http://tinyurl.com/2krea5 (YouTube)

This song's a huge exception for me because of that really tight synth repeating pattern and the jazz guitar noodley interludes. And the way the "And I will remember your name and face // On the day you were judged by the funhouse cast " chorus interacts with the chord progression is pretty tight; no fishsticks about it.

sage francis - sea lion is a pretty obvious choice

will oldham guests, has a very strong melody, most of his beats don't really catch me but this does. sage francis is rightfully reserved for once and doesn't overstay his awkward intensity

I hate Eminem with a passion but I can stand him when he backs on "Forgot About Dre" by Dr. Dre, mostly because Dr. Dre r00lz.

The track he did with Jay-Z on The Blueprint is awesome.

anyway

Lil Wayne - Mr. Carter is the main song that comes to mind. I don't mind a couple of other tracks he's done but this is the only when I really come back to often.

The track 50 Cent did with Justin Timberlake and Timbaland - Ayo (Technology). Very catchy.
