View Full Version : Who Would You Be Without the Internet

Every time I have a problem, I turn to the internet and usually get my answer. When I am bored, I go on the internet. I get music from the internet, I look at animal photographs on the internet. I shop on the internet. I pay bills and communicate with people. I get information about anything off of the internet. It's so fast and easy. The world is at your fingertips. And yet, it feels like I get nothing done and that I have wasted many years on the internet.
I wonder who I would be if there was no internet?
Who would you be without the internet?
How the hell did people get things done before the internet?

Seriously though, I think the internet really shaped a lot of the aspects of who I am now. When I was a young adolescent, a time when psychologically kids' identities are being molded by their environments the most, I was present in a lot of internet communities and chatrooms. I think it had a big influence on the personality and attitude I have now, as well as humor and things like that.
I think I'd be a totally different person if not for teh internetz.
Pictures are worth a thousand words, though.

yeah we have lived our entire adult lives in a world where the exchange of information has very marginal limits regarding both time and place ... the youth of this generation have more of a worldview as opposed to the geographically bound conciousness of our parent's generation. and within the last decade we have been allowed for the first time to have nearly unlimited access to knowledge beyond what the mass media outlets have granted us. it will be interesting to see how we harness or embrace these powers in coming years ...

I would be very bored and wouldn't have much music to listen to anymore. I used to buy huge quantities of cds cause I had disposable income, but now I don't have any really, so I have to use the interwebz.

meh i think my life would be better to be honest
I would probably be in prison, for truth. All my childhood friends went on to start a gang, and then their gang merged with a bigger gang. A few of them are in prison now. But I had the internets and I got to chatting with emos and nerds, and now I am here.
But then I also had my school friends who were the opposite of the kids in my neighbourhood so probably not. It's hard to say where I would be without the internet.

pretty much.
and its not just data information it's true human emoting, like music, i think is interesting because unlike face to face communication it perfectly translates across distance, time/geography of the networks
notedly, compare the sheer amount of musical styles we can't help but be exposed to in every aspect of techno-cultural convergence not just, but especially the internet, compared to any fraction of the relative time communication has been around.
it's pretty mindblowing to imagine the unimaginable unpredictable precedents being set in so many areas of life these days

It's crazy to think when I was a little kid the internet didn't really exist. That makes me feel old.
I used to go outside and play and stuff but now I don't.
Without the internet I would probably have been somewhat successful in life. But I would have to beat off to old national geographic magazines so I like that trade-off.
Since I moved, I haven't really had access to Cable TV or the internet. You'd think I'd be doing something more productive with my time... but I'm just not.
Unless you count going to college. Which I don't.

I disagree more than you can imagine. It was the greatest of times.
The internet has made me lazy, and it's made America even fatter.
The internet is merely a time killer for me. If it was gone tommorrow I wouldn't miss it at all.
You guys who were raised in cyberspace would do well to take long long breaks every now and again.
