Hey guys, give me a bit of help with this physics question

I've been doing this all day and my brain is fried, it's probably super obvious, but can someone tell me how I get from having x^-1 in denominator and numerator to just having one set of them? It's blatantly been turned into that -1, but I'm blown if I can spot it.
