I'm sure everyone has heard 'Donuts' as it was kinda the text book "rap" album of '06 with the passing of Dilla. While that record is great, Dilla's work with rappers is far better 'Fantastic Vol. 2' being a perfect example. When entering this album you can't really expect lyrically prowess. Elzhi has yet to join the group so Baatin and T3 were the only rappers. To be blunt they aren't very accomplished but the hosts of guests and Jay Dee himself make up for their otherwise weakness.
Another classic hip-hop joint by Slum Village. Once again, Jay Dee's beats are spot on, the most smoothest, jazziest, and pure body thumping, head bopping hip-hop beats that side of Detroit. No one does it better. The rest of Slum Village, including Dilla himself, are weak rappers with very perverted lyrics. But that doesn't necessarily make it terrible, no instead it actually makes sense. Instead of sounding womanizing, Slum Village, coupled with the beats, make tracks good for sex. Tell me if you can't imagine putting on "Climax (Girl ****)" while chilling with your favorite girl (or guy) in a dim room with some Nag Champa. Though most of the beats and lyrics are re-used from their first release, Volume 1, some get a face-lift for better, as in the case with "Untitled / Fantastic", and worse, as with "Forth and Back" whose beat is terribly weak compared to the first. Other changes of previous tracks include slightly longer verses, seen in "I Don't Know" and "Players". Other good tracks include "Jealousy", "What's It All About", "Fall-N-Love", "Get Dis Money", and "Once Upon A Time".
