Does anyone skateboard on these forums?

Ok not on the forums but u know....

I used to have a skateboard and ride around, but i was never a "skateboarder." It was transportation but tbh i preferred running or a bike for that. I was never into the "scene" or the sport

How 'bout you guys? Any skateboarders out there? Post pics of your board or w/e the hell. Your hardware. New wheels? idk wtf

so yeah skateboarding

I actually just got a new deck. I used to board when I was younger. I gave up for awhile, then just recently got back into it.

This is my new setup:

Nothing makes me warm and fuzzy on the inside more than seeing skater kids get hit with their own boards

I did a lot of skateboarding in junior high and high school, but then I stopped when I started listening to Animal Collective and eating vegetarian. I still have two decks in the garage. Recently, I've been thinking about getting into it again and stuff. I'll have to switch out the bearings, though.

I use to be not too bad at skateboarding -- when I was younger I was hittin handrails, but not out of this world, tech type of sh*t.

But I still have a board, and can completely apprectiate the sport. I still watch videos -- time to time. Makes me feels like a piece of sh*t that I quit for music, drugs and crime. I would've been better off skateboarding -- perhaps I might've went somewhere with it. who knows?

well idk if anyone has an interest in skateboarding as a sport here, but this was not intended as a sports forum thread. it was moved so sorry if its out of place

i never figured skateboarding primarily a sport so idk? i mean it can be a sport, but its not necessarily a sport. thats like saying every time someone rides their bike down the street they are participating in a sport. which is kind of silly. its recreation, really. even leisurely. fun

anyway as a sport...um...what can you tell me?

its more a way of life than a sport

empty pools and punk rock shows

Skate competitions are sport-like, in the same way that a battle of the bands could be sport-like, because somebody wins. It's one of the few ventures in life that can apply to nearly every context or person, also like music.

and for the bump . . .

Favorite skate vids anybody? Favorite terrain, new spots/tricks er anything . . . bumpbumpbumpbumpbump.

Same with me. I've still got my Flip 'Hell on Wheels' board with Fracture trucks and wheels. I was able to move about and Manual in very short sporadic bursts, lol, but that was it.

I've recently brought it out of retirement from my garage after a good 5 years or so......it is now my bass amp transporter :p

I used to skate. Gave it up in high school when I got into other sports and such.

Fav skate vid would be Zero's "Dying to Live".

That Zero video is one of the gnarliest . . . I think the new Fallen video "Ride the Sky" is similar (Jamie Thomas and the like), but I haven't seen "Dying to Live" for years. I just saw Blind's "What If?" on TV last night, fizzed out after the first half, though. Most favorite videos are for nostalgia, remembering what was going when they first came about.

Of course

I use to love...

Tiltmode Army - Man Down
Black Label - Label kills
Flip - Sorry
Es - Menikmati
Birdhouse - The End
Chomp on This (fun film)

etc (I'm forgetting so much)

And then there's non-team films like On Video (which was always sick). Europe '99 was a great competition film too.

I use to skate street. I'd love when I could skate a bowl though. Not many of those in Illinois though.

But just to add to the categories...

Favorite Skaters (keep in mind I'm 4 years+ outdated)

Geoff Rowley
Marc Johnson
John Cardiel
Ethan Fowler
Tom Penny
Ed Templeton
Rod Dyrdek
John Rattray
Jerry Hsu
Greg Lutzka
Mike Carroll
Matt Hensley
etc

I haven't seen a skate video since Transworld's Feedback, which came out in like 1999. Reynolds had a pretty nice part in that.

Arto Saari's part in Sorry always sticks out in my mind as one I used to like. He got pwned and almost died. I loved the song Venus in Furs too.

I clearly favor the gnarly ****.
