Arguably my favorite rapper. Love his rhymes and his tone, as well as his loops. Started off with finding a greatest hits of his for cheap, and then went into buying Ready to Die. I Still need to get Life After Death.
And quickly, if there's anyone who knows, could somebody maybe summarize how the whole feud between him and Pac began? I've heard a lot, but I'm not sure what to think of it all.
Anyways, phenomenal rapper in my opinion, love almost everything of his I've heard. Biggie's the man. Discuss.

Well off the top of my head...
Originally, the dudes were tight. There's some story of Pac being on some car ride and playing Biggie's Party and Bullsh*t the entire drive. A while later, though, Biggie was recording some stuff with Junior MAFIA (his posse) in the studio, and saw Pac outside, invited him to come up (they're on an upper floor). Dude comes out of the elevator, shoots Pac. Later, Diddy releases the Biggie single "Who Shot Ya" (too soon diddy! too soon!), which Pac takes as a diss on him. Pac releases the infamous diss track "Hit Em Up", and the rest is, sadly, history.

So Biggie shoots Pac coming out of the elevator? Who's "dude comes out of the elevator"?

My bad, sorry. Biggie never shot Pac, although it's been alleged that a dude in Biggie's crew did the deed. Some random guy (who IIRC has never been found) shot Pac.

Ya k, that's along the lines of what I've heard. Too bad this happened, weren't they tight as hell before? I really enjoy both of the artists, though Biggie (at least his music) is more enjoyable for me.
Hit 'em Up is a sick song, just wish it was about some other fat bastard :(

Yeah, IMO Pac is kinda overrated. People hype him up for how real he was, but I just don't really enjoy his music as much. Biggie is awesome, though. One of the triumvirate of dead Bigs. (Biggie, Big L, and Big Pun if you're not familiar).

Big L and Big Pun? No not familiar, I'll look into those names, thanks for the heads up

Big L is easily one of my favorite rappers of all time. Put out one album (Lifestylez ov da Poor and Dangerous) and a handful of other material (there are collections of his freestyles and groups he was in), and then got shot; a posthumous album was released afterwards. I'd recommend looking for Lifestylez and the freestyle collection.
Big Pun I'm not as much of a fan of, but he's definitely still VERY good. You've probably heard the song "Still Not A Player", but he has a bigger catalog. Check out Capital Punishment.

I personally like Big Pun more than BIG, he just looses points because he basically only put out one album. But he's more or less the fatter, Hispanic BIG

heh, looking into these two guys now. Big Pun is huge, Big L not so big. I listened to Still Not a Player and I didn't recognize it, wasn't much of a fan either. I'll still look into Capital Punishment though, might be worth while.
I'm digging this Big L right now though. Just playing Put it On, solid song.

Still Not A Player is absolutely nothing like the rest of the album. At all. It really shouldn't even be on there. It's only on the disc to drive up sales.
Capital Punishment is ridiculous.

Ay-yo my murderous rap verbal attack is actual fact
Tactical tracks match perfectly with graphical stats
Half a you lack the magical dap of tragical rap
That tackles you back and shackles and laughs at you
That's...the mathematical madness I'm on, the savage, the
strong
The marriage, a bond of havoc and song
This massacre's on as if Picasso laced you

yeah Still Not A Player was probably a bad reference point for Pun, but I figured it's one most people have heard.

Ready To Die is easily in my top 3 hip-hop/rap albums, it's just so ****ing good. Rhymes are some of the best I've ever heard without doubt. Song with Method Man owns hard, but so do all of them. Not even the singles are weak and they were made for radio.

movie was hilariously bad.
I've heard from people who didn't really listen to biggie that much before seeing the movie, and they loved it and it got them to start their biggie musical journey....but a couple people who knew a lot about him weren't so keen on the movies effort.

The movie wasn't bad, but it was pure formula and basically just lists facts that anyone who knows anything about Biggie would already be familiar with.

I've heard a few songs off of it, but how does Life After Death compare to Ready To Die? I'm sure it's not as ground-breaking, but really how are the songs that aren't hits or well-known as compared to the rest of the album?

I have a hard time deciding between Nas's Illmatic and Ready to Die as my favorite hip-hop album.
If it's going strictly by verbal skill I have to give it to Nas.

Notorious was lackluster imo they didnt even front Jay-z when they did Brooklyn's Finest the movie just felt mad soft like they had a director of a marvel film do it.
