Now about a week ago the intro track to Power in Numbers "This Is" was bugging me a bit, by chance I was watching an obscure sadomasochistic pornography film from Japan called Tokyo Decadence and it would appear that it's theme is the source of this sample.

Then I wondered if it traced back any earlier and through imdb I traced back to - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJDqzJ8wLqk
What are some moments you found some cool samples used in hip-hop songs and traced it back to it's original source by pure accident? I always find these kind of moments awesome. Youtube links if you can help it.

at work they always play the song that tupac's changes samples.
also I remember hearing songs that were sampled in california love and big poppa on the soul radio station in gta san andreas. i guess that was their way of including post-1992 rap classics.

A few months ago, I discovered that the chorus from Let Me Ride by Dr. Dre is from the Parliament song Mothership Connection.

I love when hip-hop songs sample other hip-hop songs, like how Big Pun sampled Biggie's "lyrically I'm supposed to represent" in Super Lyrical

I just put on Jadakiss - Why (which I hadn't listened to before) and I figured out where one of the samples in Donuts - Stop!, to be precise - came from........and I jizzed...in...my pants.
Afterwards I cleaned up and posted in this thread

hearing harvey birdman quotes on dangerdooms album made me laugh
The one I remember is when I first heard Superfly, and "Pusherman" came on. Took me three weeks to figure out where I knew it from (it's "I'm Shady" by Eminem).

Wikipedia says:
"Ain't the Devil Happy"
* "Tearz" by Wu-Tang Clan (vocals by RZA)
* "Our Road" by Lee Oskar
* "What Am I Smoking?" by Redd Foxx
