My one buddy runs a lan center , and though he doesnt build comps for kids, he does computer repairs there as well, and they have a snack bar... albeit he and some friends were lucky enough to get Gov't. grants to set up the place in 2003, so like, they've been established for a while and are doing pretty badass.
They actually were much more dead from like 2007-2008 than they are now, but nowhere near as packed as they used to be (aka everyone in my age group graduated from highschool and moved away to college).
A bunch of said kids dropped out and went to community colleges, and a lot of the younger kids can drive now.

Yeah I had it all set to go in 98 but the VC I was in with wanted me to franchise them in California and my wife just wouldn't get on board. I had EA, Alienware, Valve and many others all set and ready to get invovled. The VCs loved my business plan so much they wanted to buy the "idea" but I told them to **** off. Since than I just sat on it and did nothing with it. My old idea was more of a Cyberarcade type deal with EA sponsoring a ton of sporting events. I wanted to have a mixed environment of consoles and PCs but it just never happened because of location and cost of doing business. I wanted to do it here in NYC but business leases on locations we chose were insane.
I hate it here sometimes.

This sort of thing is definitely on the up, I mean if you have a solid business plan and funds to start it then why not? My friend just started a computer repair company which fixes PC's/updates software etc. He still has a main job but only does it part time so that he's got income coming in while his business is getting off the ground but in the last few months he's has to do less and less hours as his business is starting to take off and he hopes to quit his job by the end of the year at the very latest.

I've always thought I was weird for not having a dream job. People are always like 'well you must have something that you really really want to do' and I'm like 'well...no'.
You only feel weird about it because they you're always asked when you're growing up "What do you want to be?", so it's somewhat driven into your head that it's something you need.
Not exactly prestigious, but I'm comfortable doing what I do now and (at the moment, the future can change things of course) wouldn't mind doing the same kind of thing I do now forever. I have the right kind of work mindset needed for it.
Right now, at this particular time in my life, my job is perfect.
5 years down the road, we'll see where I stand.
As far as a 'dream job' goes ... working for PIXAR, or Dreamworks SKG, or ILM. That might be a reality in about 10 years, as I have friends who by then will be in a position to get my foot in the door.

pilot...preferable air force pilot but any kind would be awesome****ing word, man. Word.
Oh, if you want to be an Air Force Pilot, there are some stringent policies. Prerequisites include a bachelor's degree that's preferably pertaining to science. Physics, computer science, chemistry, etc. Also, you must be commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant Officer. Officer Training School is 12 weeks, but taxing on mind and body. After you become a 2nd Lieutenant, request to become an Air Force Pilot, if you have a civilian rating (Private Pilot's License), it looks even better to the selection board. If you are selected then you choose a 'track' (fighter/bomber, airlift/tanker, multi-engine turboprop, and helicopter) based from personal aspirations and recommendations by instructors. From there, you proceed to Advanced Flight Training. Completion of Advanced Flight Training earns your silver wings.
Age is a bit of a hurdle. Up to 29 years of age without a waiver before[i] entering a 2nd Lieutenant officer's commission. Age waivers for those under 35 [i]may be able to be attained.

Ha, exactly. I'm not setting my sights on being a writer as means of income. i had 1 female english teacher and 4 doods
If you recall, I've stated that I have close to zero motivation or passion to teach, so I'm sort of wondering what I'm doing with all of these history and education courses....to tell you the truth I want to just drop the class I'm taking now but that would really anger people.

…is much like Marie Antoinette's. The few posses much, while the masses posses little but their television sets. This dicotamy led to a revolution in which Antoinette and her husband were be-headed. Today, leaders are appeased rather than be-headed. Still, while in her day Marie Antoinette said 'Let them eat cake', perhaps today she'd say, 'Let them eat fast food'.

Lets not forget that I was a professional twice over; an analyst and a therapist. The world's first analrapist.

Being paid to play video games and tell them what I think about the game.
tbh, you don't want that. I doubt there are any real jobs like that. Most are programmers and debuggers who have to play a game over and over and over just to find minor bugs and tweaks.

There's professional gamers though. Have to be beyond-epic-as-**** at it though. I've played with some people on CoD4 who make a solid 25-30k playing in pro tournaments.
