Mine is fairly straightforward. John is my name, John Doe is the name of the bassist / singer / songwriter in one of my favorite bands, and X is the band he plays in. A John Doe is also someone who is of "unknown identity," so I guess that is appropriate for the internet. Although I didn't have that thought when picking the name
