View Full Version : What Band Let You Down Most When You Saw The Live?
JohnXDoe

I've seen a lot of bands, but for me it was The Red Hot Chili Peppers. They weren't bad....I love me some RHCP. But after all I had heard about them they were just very average. And the drummer stunk. Foo Fighters come in a close second, who just didn't seem to care both nights I saw them.
Talk about bands that didn't cut it live itt
Dizzee Rascal was a huge disappointment.

A lot of bands at festivals seem to come up a bit meh live, but seeing as its outdoors and rushed etc I can let it go.
Not that I'm much of a fan but when I saw the streets supporting Muse at Wembley they were awful. He can't hold a tune at all but still insists on singing.
The second time I saw The Australian Pink Floyd I was a bit let down; the first time I saw them they performed the whole of DSOTM and it was incredible. Second time round was just a greatest hits set which was good, but not incredible.
Pop music sucks
03-21-2009, 07:01 AM
Yeah, I remember watching a live performance by RHCP and was disappointed. Anthony Kiedis really can't carry a tune live.
slayer
i hadnt heard anything by them before i went but its slayer uno and everyone told me they are great but i hated it and they were **** rly
the last time I saw Slayer was pretty crap, they just looked bored.

Back in the mid 90's when they were very popular Seven MaryThree. The music was ok, but these guys never once looked or communicated with the audience. Quite a letdown.

That's how Tombs were on Monday. They played seven or so songs, and thanked the audience and introduced themselves after the last song.
EDIT: Musically, they were good, though.

Not really a band but Joe Satriani was pretty boring. Guitar weedly's are only entertaining for about 5 minutes, BUT Mountain went on before him and that was one kick *** show. The drummer was flying drum sticks everywhere it was great, that guitarist has so much feel

I can't think of a band really letting me down, because I can't think of any bands I was excited to see sucking, but when I saw Protest the Hero and Silversteen in Toronto at Warped Tour, they blew chunks
Protest the hero didn't sound like they played a single coherent song, was just like, hey cool riff, cool riff, weird, singing of the cool riff. Then I listened to their recordings and I realized, they don't have any songs, just cool riffs that don't fit together in any way with the next cool riff.
And Silversteen don't know how to tune their own guitars. They were standing on stage, and their stage hands were twisting the tuning pegs. The singer couldn't sing, and I swear, the drummer never hit his bass drum once! They were absolutely the worst band I'd ever heard live. I mean, I've seen high school bands who were better.

Job For A Cowboy's live set is really disappointing anymore, they started out so energetically and played everything perfect (except Elliott sucked at drumming), now they just do the standard "WE'RE METAL WE STAND AROUND LOOKING BORED" thing, Johnny can't scream anymore, and all of their new material is ****ing boring.

FOB Can't keep tune, Rise Against also can't keep tune, like 4 other bands I didn't take the time to remember who they were... 2x @Warped Tour these made the day suck... Most bands who when you listen to their album you realize that allot of the **** they will play live is just difficult and inane (a good portion of Grindcore music)... On another note I saw Caustic in Syracuse at some big venue and they sucked whereas I saw them play at a local bar like 2 day's prior and this place was like the size of the huge venues bathrooms and they rocked hard... I guess a good portion of it is luck, some bands are going to inevitably suck live while some are a hit or miss... But seeing a band live is definitely a good way to tell if they just suck in general like if you can go to 3 concerts of the same band and they play practically the same line-up and the guitarist still can't get that bitchin' fill or the drummer still can't find his kick pedal then you know that they were just fixed up in the recording booth...

When I saw Beck on his last tour it was pretty disappointing. The playing was sloppy, the sound mixes off, and just a slightly lazy performance. Though his backup guitarist was very cute
But even worse was MGMT who opened for him. They just stood there expressionless playing their music. One of the worst live shows I've seen.

Converge AND The Chariot at Sounds Of The Underground '06.
The bands put on great shows, don't get me wrong... but Jacob (from Converge) and Josh (from The Chariot) sounded moreso like they were coughing than screaming at the show... I mean, that's closer to Josh's sounds, but Jacob is way too high pitched.

Death and Taxes, the singers really fat and old, and the other guys, well, they are all hidden in back of the singer.

I saw The Mars Volta live, and it was a good show, but they only played for an hour and didn't say goodbye when they were done. They just hit the last note and literally ran off the stage.
The Mars Volta only playing for an hour holy ****

I've actually never really been to a bad show.
Maybe when I saw Sigur Ros at Redrocks.. only because we could only stay for an hour and I didn't even get to see the end. But what I saw of it was amazing.

Rush..
however,
a) Definitely had one of the worst seats in the house
b) Was sober as **** and on an empty stomach
c) They played most of their newer stuff

when i saw them my mate fainted in the last 30 seconds of All Allright so we had to quickly take him to the first aid section. we were pretty cut because it was amazing and i wanted to cheer at the end :(

I saw Modest Mouse live and they were amazing. It was actually the first concert I had ever been to.
I have heard though that the lead singer is waisted for half his shows with makes a for a shotty performance.

I saw Bob Dylan in kingston which is like a small town, anyways it was the worst mix i've ever heard, his voice was way too ****ing loud. even worse, he didnt look at the audience once, his back was turned the whole time, thanks for the show bob i was bleeding from the ears
I love me some Bob Dylan, but I don't think I would ever care to see him live, first off he could never sing to begin with, and now he's just old and sounds even worse.

Also, RHCP were godawful, but I wouldn't say they let me down, because I have never liked them anyway.

Iron Maiden.
They totally half-assed their gig and only a couple of die-hard fans liked the gig.
The rest of us were left puzzled about what the f*ck is going on.
