i like the mellower brews, myself. the above are just my mainstream choices. but i've had some good non carbonated ones at local breweries / brew factories / bars that were truly tremendous

if cheaper and more readily available some of those would surly make my list. as it is i'm not too picky

Nope.

Also lawl at you not liking Bluetounge. The reason I didn't start drinking beer until recently was because my friends drink what I think is crap and I'd only have what they were having. None of them like Asahi.

so what youre saying is the point of an occurrence is occurrence itself and not the experience of the occurrence

interesting observation

even if nobody is directly there, the act is still 'observed' because it is not an isolated occurrence going on separate from the universe that we live in, so yeah it makes a noise. If it happens inside a box which no information can get in or out of, in that case... it probably doesn't even exist

Reaganista
03-20-2009, 10:42 AM
of course it exists that's ****ing stupid if you presume it happens then it exists

GorgeousGabe
03-20-2009, 10:49 AM
If it can't be observed then it doesn't necessarily exist. The science is not 'in' on that one nor do I really think that it will be any time soon

Reaganista
03-20-2009, 10:50 AM
we cant know that it exists sure

but if we hypothetical presuppose that it is actually happening then of course it hypothetically exists

If it can't be observed then it doesn't necessarily exist. The science is not 'in' on that one nor do I really think that it will be any time soon
wait so other galaxies that are out there don't exist because an advanced species of ape hasn't found them yet?

FingersOfStone
03-20-2009, 11:02 AM
well of course they happen it was more a question of are they significant in a spiritual sense

GorgeousGabe
03-20-2009, 11:05 AM
It has nothing to do with whether or not a 'conscious' or 'self-aware' species has found them or not

If they are there, regardless of whether or not they've been found, they have a gravitational pull that effects things which we CAN see and we CAN observe. And other 'things' in the universe can 'observe' them as well. If you are blind but you are being hit by a car, you are effectively observing that car. It doesn't even have to hit you... if it drives by and blows wind in your face. Cosmically speaking, even things that we haven't 'found' are blowing wind in your faces. for example- we know that 95-98% of the universe consists of 'dark matter' and yet we haven't FOUND any dark matter... we know it exists because we can observe the effects of its gravitational pull. ****, it is the only thing keeping our galaxy together, so far as anyone knows

Now if one of those galaxies has no traits or properties that can be observed... ie, no light escapes, no gravitational pull, etc- then no, it doesn't necessarily exist. I say necessarily because this is theoretical physics, it's all quantum bullpoop and schroedinger's cat and **** that is only just now being understood enough to possibly maybe kind of perhaps be of any practical use to anyone

Reaganista
03-20-2009, 11:05 AM
no that's wrong you can't presuppose that something exists and then say it doesn't exist that fails on its face

I'm hypothetically shooting you in your hypothetical face right now with my hypothetical gun... why is it not working???

I guess I can settle for you being just hypothetically dead

if you hypothetically killed me i would be hypothetically dead
im not getting the significance

GorgeousGabe
03-20-2009, 11:15 AM
But what you're saying is that if I presuppose something exists, then it exists.

Maybe it exists in my mind but until that can be observed or not, then scientifically, no, it doesn't 'exist'

For example, you're not literally dead. So similarly, the tree that you presupposed fell in an isolated part of the universe from which no information can escape does not literally exist just because you imagined it did

I agree with you that the significance is... really not there at all. The universe all exists in my head anyway so your hypothetical death is just as good as a 'real' one, I suppose.

Of course you are still posting and getting on my nerves, so I guess I just debunked that theory didn't I

Reaganista
03-20-2009, 11:17 AM
Maybe it exists in my mind but until that can be observed or not, then scientifically, no, it doesn't 'exist'
science goes out the window when you start with the assumption that it's there to begin with

for example
Now if one of those galaxies has no traits or properties that can be observed... ie, no light escapes, no gravitational pull, etc- then no, it doesn't necessarily exist

this sentence amounts to saying 'if a, then maybe not a'
that fails for reasons not having anything to do with science

GorgeousGabe
03-20-2009, 11:23 AM
I'm saying that if something is imaginary, then maybe it's not real. If it's not imaginary, it has been observed in some way

Some beers deserve to be had out of certain glasses. There is no need for medieval weaponry, however that could prove to be a very curious situation once the liquids start a-flowin'! HO HO!

I've read about three or four in the last month or so. We're doing a Renaissance play per week for this module. Can't believe I've only just got round to reading Hamlet; I'm a terrible English student.

Julius Caesar was pretty good

My favorite was prolly Macbeth, and then King Henry IV. Richard III's ok, King Lear is good

never read Hamlet tho. I wouldn't ever read shakespeare though if school didn't require it, I tried with the merchant of Venice and I didn't dig it. Drama's meant to be viewed, not read.

Macbeth is the only one I like, but it rules.

yea macbeth is cool it was my favorite when i first started reading shakespeare, its got a lot of poetic language, i mean who doesnt like the "tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow...."

but overall id say that the characters are mostly flat and overexaggerated, and the psychological insight is flimsy at best. its def one of the more straightfoward plays, theres really only one way to interpret it, and i think it suffers for it.

read hamlet or king lear.

Favorite beer: National Bohemian.

Sure it's swill but it's got way more flavor than Bud, Coors, etc... and it's usually cheaper. Plus its a local brand (sadly no longer brewed locally) so I get to show my city pride while I drink it.
