My friends and I always used to laugh at how many ridiculous subgenres metal has. Post a band and appropriate subgenre. You may classify that band under the subgenre as long as you can support your claim, in other words it's ok if the band doesn't say they are what you're saying they are, as long as you think they belong in the category.
Try to name ridiculous subgenres: forest, witch, viking, brutal-gore, neoclassical technical death, porno grind, gore grind, satanic, avant-garde, etc.
I'll start.
Cattle Decapitation - Vegan Gore Grind

also,
Rosetta - Space metal
desribing a band =/ their genre
cattle decapitation is a death/grind band
they are also hardcore vegans and use a lot of gory imagery
therefor they can be described as vegan gore grind
that, however, is a description of cattle decapitation
not a genre
i am writing like this because i thought it mght be easier to comprehend
because you strike me as very stupid

i'm playing a show with a really bad scene band that describe themselves as "party death metal" later this week.

because they're a death/grind band. the fact their lyrics are gory and they are vegan don't have anything to do with the sound that the music impacts. it has to do with the band's beliefs and stuff.

because you define them as a death/grind band. i think of them as a vegan gore grind band because that is what i associate them with. when i go to their shows i go see them with my crusty vegan friends. i eat vegan food with them, we talk about how much cattle suck at writing good music but are nonetheless an amazing band (they are improving). they are a vegan gore grind band because that is how I perceive them. To say that is wrong is to define what is undefinable, a totally subjective experience, and you are both being major d-bags in a thread i thought would be hilarious.

Well what you're effectively saying is that music is what you perceive it to be, which isn't right. If I thought that Cattle Decapitation was indie rock would that make them indie rock? No, it wouldn't. They sound like other Death/Grind bands and as a result of this they are a Death/Grind band, they're lyrics and how they choose to live their lives has no effect on what the music sounds like.

if you could explain why you thought they were indie rock, then yes, they would be indie rock.

I've seen Il Niņo call their music tribal-metal.
I thought that was pretty farfetched.
Other than that, Idk.

just stating what you think is never enough unless you explain your reasoning. all you are doing is being a pretentious a-hole. I suggest you put more effort in your comments and thought into your bland offenses.

and this means the genre they play is vegan gore grind yes yes the vegan melodies paired with the gore drums really make for one totally meat-free and blood-drenched listen

This is why new members often get chased away from the forum. Way to be an asshole.

context; this thread
was the post taken out of this thread without me noticing?
and you asked him to explain the very same thing i just explained
let me try a simple analogy on you;
i am a mailman
that is my profession, my title
i also enjoy playing guitar, drinking beer, and getting tattoos
so, by your logic
my title is
"beerdrinking, guitarplaying, tattooed mailman"
OH WHAT A DROLL TITLE i bet it even say that on my employee sheet
no wait
it just says mailman
because that is the work i perform
do you see the analogy?

i consider myself more of a bouncer, but w/e

Here is a wikipedia article that shows some subgenres.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_metal_subgenres
Drone metal, groove metal, neoclassical metal, stoner metal, rap metal and viking metal are all legit genres (on wikipedia). Who's to say there aren't other subgenres??? I was hoping to learn more about what subgenres existed or at least how people would express other subgenres.
Everyone seems to complain about the forum dying, but you guys all seem to be pretty good in keeping out new members.
hey, hey, hey, don't generalize. i never complained about this place dying, and i never encouraged the introduction of more morons to the site.
of course new members are more than welcome, but seriously - this guy? this thread? these opinions? i dont know, i guess i'm just not satisfied with this.
