Is there any artist or album that is purely instrumental?

Something with songs like Rotting Christ's "Ten Miles High" Opeth's "Epilogue" or At the Gates' "and the world returned" which carry a foreboding and melancholic mood.

Umm I was just listen to Strangle**** yesterday, it's by the Psyopus guitarst and it's instrumental.

It's not great and you prob wouldn't like it but it's the only thing I could think of.

Russian Circles. Not exactly like that stuff but they are so good.
also, another great instumental band is Liquid Tension Experiment. 3 Members of Dream Theater and 1 of King Crimson.

Liquid Tension Experiment (Dream Theater's purely instrumental side project), seriously, you won't turn back after listening to them

Listen to Mogwai, probably the album Young Team first. And then Happy Songs for Happy People, it's slightly better than Pelican although Pelican is top 5 for sure.
