View Full Version : Looping/Quantize

I have been making some looping and sample based music lately and I have a question.

I am using drums generated by Redrum and recording guitar and bass into Adobe Audition. Typically my formula is to record all of the parts, then copy and paste them multiple times, and fade them in and out as needed.

While I can get it down to fractions of a second and it sounds fine, I am still thinking that there has to be a better way.

So

Is there any way to quantize samples in Audition? Any DAW?

Or

Would the difference be negligible and I'm thinking too much :chug:

I know ProTools can do this, at least from 7.4 on (I believe)

How about Cubase? I know it is capable of this with midi but I don't know about pre-recorded .wavs

I would have mentioned Cubase if I knew it could or not.

Audition should have some sort of "Snap to Grid" function (don't know for fact, but I'd bet it does). Set up your snap to follow "musical time" or "beats" or some equivalent measurement of time.

Set up your project with the tempo you're using in Reason. Set your Snap granularity to one whole beat. Then you can place your files end-to-end without issue.

You're correct, but:

Set your Snap granularity to one whole beat.

Sorry?
