Hey guys, I recently got a Behringer Xenyx 1222FX and it sounds great. The UB2000 I think is a cool little toy (And a little off topic but all you have to do to get it to work is put the output on the board to the input on the UB2000, and vice versa. I saw many people were having trouble with this)

Anyway the thing is I can record and it sounds perfect. But when I go back on Audacity (Im sure you are all familiar with this program) and record a new track OVER the existing first track, it Re Records the first track and is off by a milli second. Now I can stop this by turning all tracks off except for the one I am currently playing but is a hassle because I cant play to a click track if i do this or hear what was previously recorded. I know these are NOT the causes:

The Speakers being turned on...I am using headphones.
The headphones too loud and the mic is picking it up.....I unplugged the headphones and it still does this.

Even if the mic is at zero volume it will do this.
Any suggestions? Its a pain in the arse.

My suggestion is to delete that milli second at the start of the track.

you could do that... Or you could tell me how your mixer is connected to your comp...
for example if you have your output(mixer) going to input (comp) back to an input (mixer) usually to the cd/tape in and not muting that... whats your path?

Ok well I figured out the delay, it was a latency issue that i just adjusted and it did the trick.

But it still re records everything i play. If i play a click track from the computer, and i am wearing headphones, and i record a guitar through an amp which is hooked up to a condensor mic, only the amp should come through on the final recording. But the click track is there on the first track where it is supposed to be and ALSO on the guitar track. It is really getting frustrating.

Go to edit/preferences in Audacity and make sure the bottom 2 boxes are unchecked. That might be the problem.

see that fixes it, but the problem is, i cant hear the previously recorded click track if i do that making everything i record out of sync.

I wouldn't say it's better nor would I understand why changing the daw would do anything to your problem... just uncheck the bottom button on there...

How have you got your gear set up?

Are you just recording the output of your mixer? Are you running the output of your computer through the mixer?

If the answer to both is yes, plug your headphones/speakers straight into your interface.

mabey the computer sux? I dont know anything about audacity.

Why dont you just spend 5 minutes recording a metronome to the first track.
