Probably old news but I didn't find a post about it, apparently Fender is releasing a new series of Mexican Basses in new colors and the choice of a maple neck, the price jumped $50 though. I have GAS for Lake Placid Blue with a maple neck.

It also looks like Fender is releasing another Steve Harris sig...

Good job Fender! It's only about 17 years overdue...

Nice, though I am currently leaning more towards a Reggie Hammilton J-Bass. :)
BTW: Does anyone have expiriences with the Hammilton Sig model?

It's alright. That D-tuner is, imo, a stupid gimmick, and it's way overpriced compared to an Aerodyne or a Deluxe Precision Special...
You're really just paying a few hundred more for a name, IMO. I'd definitely check out the P Special, it's a pretty versatile bass that sounds great and plays, well, like a Fender. The Aerodyne sounds pretty good too, one of 3 basses with a basswood body that sounds good to my ears.

or the steve bailey 6-string :naughty:
EDIT: actually, i think i'll just stick with the bongo 6.
still great that they're venturing there though.

That looks cool. Steve Harris bass looks interesting. I don't really care much for Mexican Fender basses. Right now I want a MIA jazz bass.
Reggie Hamilton bass (american) is nice, but is too expensive. The mexican version is too everpriced IMO.

Well, teh difference in price in the shops around here between the Hammilton and the P Special is about 200 bucks. But honestly, the P Special has REALLY butt ugly color finishes IMO. I would never be happy with any of the colors.
But I stumbled across the Power Jazz bass, which sounds pretty interesting with it's three pickups. I'll see what tone you can get out of that one. :)

I haven't had a chance to play one yet... Let me know if the piezos have a use to them. I remember being really underwhelmed with the tone from the piezos on the TRBs, but I do love me some Rob Allens...

You really think so? I know that the gold pickguard is not the prettiest thing in the world, but the P deluxe special looks pretty sick in red with maple fingerboard IMO. I got one and it's an awesome bass. The bridge was junk so I replaced that with the Gotoh bridge. All I need to do is swap the pickups and it will play and sound like an American Fender bass.

Well, so far I just spotted it with the those strange metallic colors on the pickguard and sometimes the body as well. Should it be available in a decent sunburst finish, I would go for it. But like I said, none of the color combinations I spotted so far with this bass really make me go "Damn, I wanna have that thing".

Yeah, I agree with you on the colors. I definitely wish it came in 3-tone sunburst with tortoise shell pickguard. Or better yet, sea foam/surf green with white pearloid pickguard.
