is he really that worth it? i mean he really lived the whole empty nihilism of punk rock but i dont even think he was very talented..but i am always very entertained by the spectacle he put on during his performances. is there any substance beyond the hype here?

I liked some of his stuff back in the day, but the majority was just generic and bland punk.

I once saw a live video of Bite It You Scum where he's slicing himself up with broken glass and rolling around in it, then he whips out his dick and starts beating it. Thankfully, he does not finish. He also gets in a bit of a fight with someone in the crowd, I think. Ridiculous.

I have a friend who is really into his music, much more than the spectacle that he was. She's told me about some albums I should check out, but I do not want to believe that anything good can come from GG Allin. I have a shirt she stenciled of him because it doesn't fit her anymore, and although it's a well made shirt, I wont wear it, because... I just really hate GG.

He was an awful gimmick and a shock douche that to me represented the other side of punk, the stage show antics like Alice Cooper for punx if you enjoyed being crapped on and pissed on.
