Hey guys, typically I'm posting on the guitar side of the forums here, but I came to the mighty bass side to get some advice.
I'm looking for another bass to jump at, my first bass I had was a peavey cirrus 4 string with active pickups.. so.. I'm looking to get my slap on, and have something with a really punchy tone, and very tight feel.
Pref. something natural wood styled!
but throw me some advice!

natural music man stingray seems to be the obvious choice.

First thing's first, sir. What's your price range?

Honestly mates, it's probably anywhere all over the place.. up to about 1000 even.. I would hate to break that much.
I payed 600 for my cirrus back in the day.. I would like to get something around that price if at all possible for a stellar sounding bass.
I still need to get a rig

You can find a used Stingray for around the $800 area I do believe.
Is there some reason you don't want a peavey again?

Not really! It was just a really solid bass for what I had.
It was neck through and 18 volt active, just had a very solid feel to it!

If you like Fender, then you could probably find a very good deal on a used 2008 american jazz bass on ebay.

Well, if you prefer a neck-thru, you might try some ESP basses. I believe they are pretty decent and have active electronics.
You might also find a used Warwick thumb and Spector Rebop that you dig - they are very solid basses with a great tone.

some people will probably disagree, but as far as neck-thrus go i love my schecter stilletto elite-4. neck-thru and active. always get compliments on its tone. it is also a very solid bass.

Right. He said 18v, so i presumed he was looking for active EQ and active pickups.
I love my Schecter too. Can't wait to get home and play it some more.
I'll +1 your suggestion also.

Although, you could replace the pickups on the schecter with actives for pretty cheap me thinks.

Peavey Cirrus basses (Cirri?) come with passive pickups. My USA and BXP models were passive pickups with 18V 3-band active electronics.

You know, I thought that might be the case. I've seen both, but to me, both active pickups and EQ just seemed like it would be a more common setup than the 18v pre-. My mistake.
You and your knowledge of Cirri (Cirruses?) basses is astounding. Thank you for existing, Chris.
