Im using a Yamaha DTXplorer drumset through the Midi Out on the module, into a M-Audio Midisport UNO 1x1 usb midi interface, into my Dell Inspiron laptop. Im using Tracktion 2 as my DAW, with Linplug RMIV as a VST plugin for the drum sounds.
When i click on each drum in RMIV, the sound plays fine, or when i manually input the midi notes in a clip editor, but i want to be able to play the Yamaha electric kit and have those pads trigger the sounds in RMIV. I have the midi devices enabled, and set up for the correct tracks, but when i play the drumset, i get no input signal. I've looked through the Yamaha manual, as well as in RMIV, where you can edit which note triggers each pad, and tried to match them. No use so far.
I've downloaded MIDIOX to monitor the midi input, and it shows some pads registering on midi channel 1, but as Pitch Shifts. I know for a keyboard they should be note on/off messages, should it be the same for a drumkit? Also, not all of the pads register, only the snare, hihat, and 2 of the toms.
I've also downloaded Edrum Mapper, which has a feature where you can click re-map or something, then play the trigger and it will automatically assign it, but when i play a pad, the program doesnt register it. I've downloaded Loopbe1 internal midi also to go from the edrum mapper to tracktion.
I'm really confused, and i need help please! I want to be able to play the drumset and have it activate the drum samples in Tracktion's RMIV plugin via MIDI. If i can get this to work, I'd like to possibly get EZDrummer or Superior Drummer, but i want to be sure this will work. I've also considered getting an Alesis MIDI Trigger I/O, on which you can change the midi notes assigned to each physical drum pad.
I'm not sure what the problem is though. Any ideas? thanks
