What dynamic mics do you have?
Two combinations you can use is bass + 2 overheads or bass + snare + overhead. I mean, it won't sound great, but its what you have, so you have to deal with it.
But it also depends what types of dynamic mics you have.

Never heard of them.
Keep it several inches away from the bass drum, or you may blow out the diaphragm.

theres no porthole on the kick though, and yes i dont think anyone has ever heard of em but i went to the store and saw them at a cheap price, took em home and they were pretty decent mics

doesn't matter, even if there's no porthole, there's still a shitton of SPL's being generated, and it will probably distort the mic.

Radio Shack mics are Realistic.
The only Dixon I know are a cheap Drum hardware brand. Maybe they're related.

There's a picture of one. Looks like a lower-level SM58 copy. I'd avoid putting it on the bass, as Seafroggys said, SPLs... Being the king of low-fi I am, I'd place two where you'd see condensers in a standard setup; above the kit, about 8 foot high; and another about 4 foot off the ground, 8 foot in front of the kit or so. Make a triangle.

using dynamics on the kick I'd put 2 of them about 6inches away from each side centered roughly aimed angled at the center of the kick so if you were to take a line from each mike they would create a 45 degree angle that seems to work good for the band I'm mixing now...

next question...when would you NOT use dynamics on a bass drum?

When the bass drum is being hit with a mallet in a symphonic orchestra and you need to capture the ambience of the performance venue in order to get the appropriate amount of natural reverb.

Yes, good point, but we're not talking about bass drums in that context :p

I've used a neumann FET47 on lots of kick drums, sounds very nice actually :D

Depends on what your style of playing I guess, if you want the snare to be heard and have a lot of light hits etc.
First place the overhead mics, **** around with the placement until you get the best sound possible. After that place the third min on what you want to emphasize or what ever cant be heard in the mix.

Then it's no longer a "kick" drum... it's a bass drum... yes I know, meaningless and stupid, but I just had to point it out.
