Public Enemies - Michael Mann
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1152836/

Man, I could bitch about this for a lifetime. I was writing a film involving Dillinger, Machine Gun Kelly, Baby Face Nelson, etc -- at least 3-5 years ago. I read a bunch a f*ckin books to prepare myself too.

And then they take it right from under my feet -- and put Johnny Depp as Dillinger (who I wouldn't have had). Then they film it in my town (just to piss me off). I think I'm bein watched.

Doubt looks good.

I've been hearing alot of good things about Wendy and Lucy for the past few months and Old Joy is probably one of the best American independent movies to have come out in a long time so yeah I'm stoked.

Adventureland (dumb comedy but looks enjoyable)
And Revolutionary Road looks unbelievably pretentious.

I'm really excited to see Adventureland, hopefully it plays the coming of age story well and doesn't get too tied down with the teen comedy aspect.

I wish they would have gone with B&W instead of color for Revolutionary Road, but either way it looks incredibly boring.

Lukas Moodyssons new one called Mammoth http://azmovietrailers.com/trailers/607/mammoth_trailer_(2009) This trailer comes off very Babel like but hopefully that isn't the case.

just saw the pictures of Where the Wild Things Are on imdb, that looks incredible. plus I love all I've seen of Spike Jonze work, although I haven't seen anything he's done without Kaufman.

I just have this problem with Meryl Streep for some reason so she kinda turns me off from wanting to see Doubt.

My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1233219/
Based on a true story, My Son will tell the grisly tale of a San Diego man who acts out a Sophocles play in his mind and kills his mother with a sword with the narrative jumping between the murder scene and direct accounts from the matricidal maniac.

I wasn't really interested in Revolutionary Road but the trailer is really good, although it doesn't seem as though there is much more to the story that isn't in the trailer.

Rams
12-29-2008, 04:29 PM
Revolutionary Road was painfully boring. Gran Torino has some of the worst acting ever, makes The Happening look Oscar worthy. Doubt was exactly like the play; if you liked it go see, if not don't bother. The Reader is pretty good. The Wrestler is amazing.

I want to see The Fighter and Terminator 4. And Crank 2. And My Bloody Valentine 3-D. The Class looks good too.

Sherlock Holmes, more than anything. Robert Downey Jr. + Jude Law + Rachel McAdams + Guy Ritchie doing a Sherlock Holmes movie = epic win.

Also Motherless Brooklyn hopefully but that keeps getting pushed back and back.

I really hope they make it a good movie, the book was awesome. I'm glad Viggo is the father, he's what I'd imagined he would look like.

EDIT: Well, now that I think of it, maybe "awesome" isn't the best word for the book overall. I think the concept and general idea of the book was awesome, but the writing was a bit choppy.
