X: Los Angeles or Wild Gift?

Both of these albums are excellent, but which do you prefer?

i prefer Wild Gift. i like Los Angeles and think its great. has some great songs. but the sound of the album isn't as raw as Wild Gift and i find producer Ray Manzarek's organ to be intrusive and out of character for the band. although not terrible and it doesn't ruin the record in any regard, the organ just doesn't seem to add anything and seems to take away from what could have been in its place. and the album is a little uneven. songs like Sex And Dying In High Society and Sugarlight are ones i routinely skip. not so great on a nine song album

Wild Gift on the other has a stripped down sound that manages to sound raw and good at the same time. and it also has better songs imo. better songwriting, in fact. although some of it was written with the Los Angeles tunes, the album seems more focused. and without Ray's organ interfering the band really gets goin'. White Girl, Some Other Time, In This House That I Call Home, We're Desperate, Beyond And Back, When Our Love Passed Out On The Couch, Back To The Base, Year 1....i mean what can you say about those songs and the entire album except they are great

four more songs then Los Angeles, more consistent, a sound that manages to be more aggressive then on Los Angeles and cleaner at the same time, and of course the performances. vocals, music, songs, good recording, its a real creative / artistic achievement imo. Los Angeles is the landmark of course because it came first and is one of the most important albums ever made by a west coast punk band. and most likely one of the most important punk rock albums ever released. certainly by an American band. but when all is said and done Wild Gift is superior on several important counts imo

i should point out i like Under The Big Black Sun more then either of them, however. and More Fun In The New World eclipses Los Angeles for me as well. and Wild Gift sometimes, too

For me its Wild Gift. For some of the same reasons already stated itt. Plus its just complete *** kickery
