Ihsahn. Ih-freaking-sahn.
I've only heard his debut, The Adversary so far, but it's just immense. I love that album to bits. It's got everything in there. All pulled off with grandeur and style.

I second the Enslaved recommendation, that band is combines 70s inspired progressive and psychedelic elements with modern black metal perfectly. asdemonsburn did mention he didn't like folk though, and Enslaved has a lot of folk/viking elements in them.

Anyyway, something that you might like (i can't believe im recommending something to you) is Sólstafir.

I'll have to check them out, i have been on a death metal kick for a while.
