I'm looking for more bands like Kayo Dot, which have elaborate, complex arrangements that span longer than average song lengths. Doesn't have to be brutal or grim or anything, just needs to have detailed arrangements that slowly (or quickly) unfold, much like a modern, rock or metal-oriented equivalent of chamber music. A perfect example of what I'm looking for would be Kayo Dot, especially on their Choirs Of The Eye album.
Any recommendations?

well the most obvious recommendation would be maudlin of the Well, but you've probably already heard them.
But yeah, if you're looking for something that is very similar to Kayo Dot then you're not gonna come across much.

Yes I've heard maudlin of the Well, Bath is an absolutely brilliant album, with Leaving Your Body Map close behind. But yes, I'd expand my search to bands similar to mauldin of the Well too.
Thanks.

Thanks for all the recommendations, fellow forumers. I expect I'd have a reasonably hard time finding any of these artists though!
Not really, most of the albums I recommended are on different blogs. Just try to look hard.
