I want some speakers mainly for just straight listening to music. However, i also will be recording while im home from school so i would like some studioish quality monitors. alright so, which one would you get if these were the last two types of monitors in the world?

I really don't know anything about that brand.

For the price range you are going for I really don't know what's good.

I generally maintain the opinion that unless you're spending about $350+/speaker (i.e., $700 or more for a stereo pair), you're better off finding a good pair of headphone monitors.

In your price, there's a few good options out there for headphones. I personally don't like any near-field monitors that you can buy for less than $1000/pair.

The point of my post was sort of to say that I wouldn't pick either set. I'm pretty confident that neither pair of speakers a good choice for media production. The reason being that in my own experiences searching/testing monitors, I haven't like anything less than $350/speaker at all and really didn't start to really like what I was hearing until you hit the $500/speaker range.

If somebody, say, put a gun to my head and said choose one set or the other or they'd shoot, I'd guess I'd go with the 1st set, since they're cheaper and I'm not a big fan of gimmicky crap.

why would monitors possibly need an iPod dock? That's ridiculous and marketed straight for the consumer who buys low end crap, which is what I will assume those speakers are. Headphones dude... headphones.

I personally love Bose speakers. I know there more expensive but my god you get what you pay for because they are worth the money you pay.

As for your two choices i would consider if your really going to use your ipod with them as well, because for that second set the only reason why its more is due to the ipod usb hub thing.

Bose are overpriced consumer speakers, not exactly designed for use in a professional studio environment. I think they have a few models out for live sound use now though. This big pillar thing.

Bose are designed for consumer home stereo use, and are overpriced even in that regard.

That's the first time I've heard Bose mentioned without someone following up with a comment about bass.

Speakers =/= monitors.
