So some of you may remember this thread http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=564483 where I was accepted into an online collaboration.

Well finally, we got one song done. I got my drums recorded months ago, but eh...I also mixed the song too, I just got a new EQ yesterday that I'm having fun with.

Anyway, enjoy!

You did a fantastic job, Froggys. I'm glad to have you aboard.

We're doing a whole album too, so there's more where that came from.

you guys did a hell of a job on this collaboration. nice playing and producing throughout.

all the drumming fit the guitar work well. i didn't expect this to be as good as it was.

I thought the song was great, and with that your drumming was pretty good as well, very in time, nice effects and little things that just made it more interesting. I thought you could have been more independent though. You seemed to never deviate from grooving very much, just a few fills in the expected places. I always think that in prog rock a drummer should have a lot of freedom to roam.

The guitars were ambient, and the choruses were a nice touch, but the one thing I was waiting for was a pick up in tempo. It happened halfway through, and then again later, I know, but I was expecting more of an accelerando beforehand rather than the sudden changes. I realize though that it's hard to do that sort of thing online. During those times your drums tended to sound a bit thin. Either they should be louder or you should be softer before, but you're already so soft in the beginning that sounding fuller later is probably the better bet.

All in all, I thought it was a great, atmospheric piece. Congrats man!

^well said. i especially agree with the tempo. too much of a slow thing that builds up to nothing is kinda of tough to listen to for a good while. there definitely needed to be a release somewhere in there.

still a great job from everyone though.

okay I'll upload 2 gigs of audio then....

...

....anyway thanks for the comments guys, appreciate it! I'm already thinking of doing a remix and remaster. Still a bit muddy in the 400 hz region.

The drum beat "swings" a bit to much for the music IMO, but sweet job otherwise.

listen to old yes before they got poopty

they have plenty of lilting compound meters like this

that said i found this pretty boring and not really prog didnt really hold my attention needed vocals etc

and i think the production was fine and was somewhat tight for an internet project

im getting ****ing tired of "modern" production values anyway

give me the steve albini live room recording to tape any day over most of the overproduced **** i hear now

**** yes, that's the power of New Beats for you!

Prog is pretty varied, but I do see your point. And yes, I guess it technically isn't done because eventually this will have vocals. The songwriter wants to do vocals after everything else has been recorded....lyrics haven't even been written yet.

Lets hold a contest foe writing the lyrics.

I quite liked this! Keep it up. More flash chops requested though. And I see what Mr Pink said about the swing. Thought the sections maybe dragged a bit, could do with either embellishments or snappier changing of sections, the piece doesn't really develop much. That said, the actual musical content I have no problem with. Thumbs up :)~~
