http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc303/shawnsumerian/Mesh_Tour09_admat-1.jpgSwedish experimental extreme metallers MESHUGGAH will team up with the reunited progressive rock/metal band CYNIC for a North American tour in early 2009. So far the following dates have been revealed:

Feb. 01 - House of Blues - Anaheim, CA
Feb. 02 - House of Blues - San Diego, CA
Feb. 08 - Commodore Ballroom - Vancouver, BC
Feb. 15 - House of Blues - Chicago, IL
Feb. 17 - The Phoenix - Toronto, ONT
Feb. 20 - Recher Theatre - Towson, MD

More than half a year after its debut at No. 59 on The Billboard 200 chart, MESHUGGAH recently cracked the 50,000 sales mark in the United States with its latest album, "obZen".

"obZen" sold 11,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release. This is substantially more than the 7,000 first-week total achieved by its predecessor, "Catch 33", which landed at No. 170 on The Billboard 200 chart back in June 2005.

An e-card for "obZen" can be accessed at this location.

MESHUGGAH took part in the U.S. leg of MINISTRY's final world tour — C U LaTouR — which kicked off March 25 in Spokane, Washington and concluded on May 11 in Chicago, Illinois. The trek also featured opening act HEMLOCK.

"Traced in Air", the new album from CYNIC, was released in North America on November 25 via Season of Mist. The CD's first run is a limited-edition hard cover digipack with the cover artwork embossed to further showcase the beautiful cover by renowned artist Robert Venosa, as well as eight original pieces of art paired with the eight songs found on the album. Venosa created the unmistakable cover and visuals for 1993's groundbreaking "Focus" album. This limited edition also features a poster of the cover art. Also released the same day is the "Traced in Air" collector's box, which will only be available for order online and limited to 1,000 copies.

"Integral Birth", a new track from CYNIC, can be downloaded at this location.

Returning from the "Focus" era for the new eight-song, 35-minute effort are are founding members Masvidal and Reinert along with Sean Malone (bass), and joining the band in the studio is newcomer Tymon Kruidenier (guitars/growls). The band recorded the effort at a California studio with producer Warren Riker (DOWN, SANTANA).

I can guarantee The Faceless begged to be on this tour, they idolize Meshuggah and Cynic. They probably sucked them off.

But yeah the thing about them is they can tour with an array of metal bands. They're touring with ****ing JFAC and Lamb of God before this tour.

ok maybe not.

HighandDriving

A nice mix between Catch 33 and Obzen with a few old school tracks would be nice.

Actually that's prob what they're gonna do.

If they play any Catch 33 it's not gonna be much I'm sure. Their drummer has said he prefers to play other stuff.
