Just make some phone calls to the other bands. I'm sure if you ask nicely you could borrow some stuff. It happens all the time. You could of course buy another head?

How big is the hole?
I'm guessing most music stores are closed at the moment.

I once made a bass drum patch of electrical tape and a piece of another head, worked well enough.
and yes, if you turn your bass drum around and play it you will get a sound. Will it be a good one? Couldn't say. Will you tear through it half way through your set? Depends on your playing.

Just make sure its taped on well, or you might punch through it, too.

I don't think it matters, I used a bass reso head on mine. It's not going to sound fantastic either way, so any head material should work.

Just try to borrow someone's gear. My snare head broke mid-song two weeks ago, so I just borrowed another drummers snare for the rest of the set.

lol I wonder if it worked
Your time would have been better spent on the phone to others rather than asking for advice on an internet forum, but box-packing cellotape can work quite well as a temporary fix. Strong and thin.

^ yeah, I've found it the best option. Key thing is to keep the tape even on all sides. Go round in a circle as you apply it.

It shouldn't be a problem to just borrow someone's bass drum, surely? I mean what are you gonna do to it that they're not? If these guys really are 'spatulas' as you say, then you should probably find a more pleasant crowd to gig with.
Well, in an ideal world I guess.. But assuming you're stuck with the dickheads, well.. sucks to be you :p. You're gonna have to put up with one 'mean' sounding bass-drum for tonight. With any luck the bass mic will do all the tuning work for you anyway. You could probably mic up a 4 gallon drum and have a convincing enough 'doof' sound.
