Ok, i seem to remember making a similar thread to this ages ago but i feel compelled to again. I'm fairly sure someone is gonna come in here and give me something like 'why the hell do you stupid Australians feel the need to make a big deal when a couple of decent bands come out of your country' and i understand that point, but i honestly feel this is a thread worthy discussion. I'm not talk about Australian music in general but, there is a relatively large rock 'scene' at the moment that has some fantastic bands that seems to be getting bigger and bigger.
One band I would like to talk about in particular is Dead Letter Circus. I honestly cannot get enough of these guys. For anyone that hasn't heard them, check out their myspace http://www.myspace.com/deadlettercircus
Admittedly Kim's voice is probably a love or hate affair so a lot of people will definitely find it annoying, but the high notes he reaches totally do it for me. Anyhow, I'm not gonna crap on about how much I love them forever but I will say that their debut E.P is one of the best I've ever heard. I'm not claiming them the best band of all time, but they are just a tight unit who know how to write a damn good song. To say I have high expectations for their album coming out early next year is an understatement.

Some other bands to discuss:
Cog
Karnivool
Mammal
The Butterfly Effect (new album=****ing boring though)
Rook
Sydnonia (More metal than anything)
Sleep Parade
Melodyssey
Hinge
Bushido
Ash Pheonix

Dead Letter Circus seem ace from the one track I listened to on their Myspace. I'll have to check these guys out.

I still havn't forgiven Australia for AC/DC though. :(

Tangled Thoughts Of Leaving are easily the most promising band I've heard in Australia for years. Their live show is ridiculously tight.

Progressive/Post-Rock is getting a few good bands in Australia too. Laura, Meniscus, Los Alamos and Sleepmakeswaves just to name a few.

Oh and, saw DLC last week and think they put on one of the better live shows out of all those bands. They ended up going to the same club i was at after too. Spent the whole night drinking and talking **** with them. They are all really top blokes,Kim even bought me a couple of drinks.

The first song on that album is easily the best thing they have ever done but it just goes downhill from there i reckon.

I love Dead Letter Circus! Their new EP is awesome, just like the previous one! They certainly are my favourite group from the list

Karnivool and Butterfly Effect are great bands too

I also enjoyed quite a lot Sleep Parade's album!
