I didn't listen to the Guns album because I've never liked the band and the new Metallica I just catched a glimpse and it was pretty bad, but oh my god...the weezer album was terrible. They really let me down since I love their other stuff.

holographic universe is the poorest attempt at fusing watered down melodic pseudo-death metal with brocore. And then repeating that failed formula way too many ****ing times. The album's so long i couldn't even stand it.
Plus the clean vocals were autotuned and whiny. Then to top it all off, most of the track names were extremely self-indulgent, but thats just getting picky.

Yea, I have always been into metal and hardcore stuff, but my musical passion all started with Vivaldi. My dad played his stuff all the time when I was young and I started playing piano around 11 and I just grew to love music with a passion.

My program is Bachelor of Music, so it's based more on the playing aspect of music. You know... ear training, piano, theory, rhythms, the whole shabang!

so what bad albums have been released this year then. everything i've heard has at least been average I guess. I have a hard time saying music sucks, because if I'm convinved it sucks it's really unlikely I'll have given it a try. I usually go off good reccomendations and such.

oh awesome. i'm looking at the list of albums released in 2008, and I guess In Rainbows physical release date was the 1st of January? not on many best of year lists though, haha.

to be honest, I guess I was least impressed with Opeth's new album? I need to give it more of a shot, but I think it's quite tacky sounding in places comapred to a lot of previous releases. I mean I'm glad they're trying new things, but it dosn't seem quite as timeless and ethereal as most of their back catalogue.

I don't see the fuss about Fleet Foxes, either. It came across sort of generic to me? But I love Bon Iver's album, which is a similar vein I guess.
