sunday morning

wake up
mouth is dry
wrinkled up like paper
bleary red eyes
back sore from last night
take a drink of the warm
cheap red wine
in the printed up glass
left on the nightstand
tastes just like
the blood of christ
in my parents catholic church
about as fulfilling, too


a fly silently slips thru the air
and lands on the book
i was reading last night
dostoevsky
it just stood there
on the right page
i snapped the book shut
and smiled to myself

Made me think of Bukowski. I like Bukowski.

yeah i know he's a pretty good read
but god who'd wanna be
god who'd wanna be such an asshole

(i listened to modest mouse before i read bukowski, sadly)

but yeah
bukowski is great because he always writes about
the everyday things
and occasionally you see a glimmer
of something larger

i think the slightly rough edge is there again.
