heard that Groundwork might be the +1 band, but it is doubtful.

also, it seems weird that two Eric Allen bands are playing when he is dead.

BuddyBigsby
11-20-2008, 01:38 PM
heard a lot of rumors. wouldn't be surprised if it was trial.

I would be excited for Unbroken out of that list. Sweet show though.

christsimpson
11-20-2008, 01:51 PM
also, it seems weird that two Eric Allen bands are playing when he is dead.

yeah that's weird. I wonder who'll be playing for him and if the same dude'll play both Swing Kids and Unbroken. who played that Unbroken - Eric Allen tribute show?

also - if the +1 band was Antioch Arrow this might just be the best gig ever or something. close at least.

RetiredAt21

Antioch Arrow sucks, Groundwork would be way cooler.

Antioch Arrow arent that bad, but I agree. What I would give to see Swing Kids.

Antioch Arrow is one of the best and most original bands ever. no Antioch Arrow, no decent screamo.

team_racket
11-20-2008, 03:49 PM
Antioch Arrow were different and a lot of great bands stemmed from that, but I wouldnt say they were the sole reason good bands existed.

dogwithoutacollar
11-21-2008, 12:45 PM
from a very reliable source, it is Mohinder...but I think everyone would be pissed off if they played...they always destroyed their equipment, pissed anyone off who was in a 5 foot radius of them, never played more than 4 songs and their sets lasted anywhere from 3-5 minutes, they made a lot of enemies on their tour because of this...I thought it was beautiful, but then again, what the **** do I know?

christsimpson
11-21-2008, 01:39 PM
LOL no they aren't. Mohinder kills Jenny Piccolo.

hell no. Justin should join up with Jenny Piccolo and they should definitely play Heavy Metal Weekend.

also saying that moshing is half the fun with punk gigs shows that you've never been to a decent gig. I mean does the band suck or is it just the sound quality? because honestly I see no reason to push people around and be a moron.

oh and yes I would definitely get moshed all over at gigs by

a) poser arseholes who are there to see scenecore crap bands and think they have to mosh to be punk or whatever. but fortunately in Norway, most decent bands are underground. thus the scene kids would go outside and get high or whatever when the real bands played.

or b) bullyrags who think they're tough.

or c) plain and simple arseholes.

but it makes me really uncomfortable when people are swinging their fists / kicking etc. it makes you look like a tool, and it makes me have to stand there with my hand out for the whole show. i don't want to get punched in the face or kicked in the groin. i guess i'm just a big large bundle of sticks.

look bro I just don't wanna get hurt at shows. nor do I wanna miss the tunes. violent music does not call for violent behaviour in the crowd. an energetic audience is not the same as an aggressive and violent one. it's bullcrap.

also I prefer How Is Annie when it comes to labels. but Gravity is awesome, no doubt.

Scramz, emoz, hardcorez, punkz. whatever it is you're into, people ****ing move, its how things go. I was talking more to indietrash kid than you. I think there should be a middle ground, but its not like when people are moving that you can't step back 10 feet away from it. But its ignorant to think that it shouldn't take place.

christsimpson
11-21-2008, 06:31 PM

iamrockzorz

punk music is usually written as a complete outburst of expression, emotion, and angst. why shouldn't the shows be like that?

woah dude you're like so totally awesome. I'm seriously.

edit:
because hurting people is stupid.

Matt?
11-21-2008, 06:42 PM

christsimpson
11-21-2008, 06:43 PM
yeah Matt you're pretty emo. hey but anyway this is so off-topic I don't care anymore - I saw a pic of you handling a guitar. d'ya have a band?

nope. someday...

christsimpson
11-21-2008, 06:46 PM
awww. I'm in the early birth of a new band. hopefully not everyone will think it sucks like indietrash. but it'll be more down to earth straight up rock'n'roll I guess.

Matt?
11-21-2008, 06:47 PM
i have songs but i'm too busy lounging around to be in a band

christsimpson
11-21-2008, 06:50 PM
finding the time is a bitch man. indietrash wasn't really an ordinary band. we played no shows because we lived miles apart, and didn't have the time nor the financial means to get togetha.

but it'll be better this time I guess. living in the city and s'hit.

Feel The Darkness
11-21-2008, 07:38 PM
punk music is usually written as a complete outburst of expression, emotion, and angst. why shouldn't the shows be like that?
exactly. punk music is supposed to embody disillusion and aggression, so should the crowd's reaction be tame and docile or angry and violent? I'll take the latter. thanks.

It's not about acting tough or "hard," but sometimes you know someone just doesn't belong there, so they might get chosen as the target of a person's aggression. This is OUR place to get away from shitty people and authority figures, etc etc, so if some dweeb isn't moving or at least visibly feeling the music, then it's the general consensus that he probably doesn't belong. he is the thing we came to the show to escape.

i don't care about unity.

i'm a selfish, self-loathing, piece of ****, but I am at a show to enjoy myself and vent a bit from the past week of dealing with work and stupid people, so too bad.

...self-righteousness aside, there are some people who truly love punk, hardcore, emo, skramz, whatever, who want to just relax and enjoy some not so relaxing music [lolwut?] with friends, and that's fine, but just steer clear of the pit or the front of the stage. it's not a hard concept to grasp...

what bands do I hype?

I've run a webzine for over 2 years now, and if you ever read the reviews or general updates, you'd know i hype up all sorts of hardcore and punk bands. i like variation.

idk i usually don't really voice my opinion on this matter because like I said, I can respect the genre's appeal because I used to be into it alot and I still appreciate some of the stuff I listened to. but really i think my taste has just moved away so I don't really consider my opinion on anything new within the genre as overwhelmingly pertinent or valid.

How is that original? There are hundreds of bands that sound pretty much just like that. Not saying it's particularly bad or anything but that's not what'd I'd call original.

no that wasn't directed at you in particular, i meant the forum in general

idk i usually don't really voice my opinion on this matter because like I said, I can respect the genre's appeal because I used to be into it alot and I still appreciate some of the stuff I listened to. but really i think my taste has just moved away so I don't really consider my opinion on anything new within the genre as overwhelmingly pertinent or valid.
oh, word.

i'm not saying you are saying this. but, i don't understand the concept of "moving away" from hardcore. usually it tends to be people saying they feel like they are "moving on" because hardcore is too simple or like you said redundant and while the vast majority of the genre is definitely such i still think it is weird to be so enveloped in something and then simply just not care anymore. maybe it actually shows where your loyalties lie. i dunno, i treat hardcore like every genre of music there are obviously going to be good and bad bands.. but hardcore actually has a scene i can tolerate unlike basically any other genre of music.

Matt?
11-25-2008, 12:35 PM
that's exactly how i feel. like i moved on... i mean i'll still go to the good shows if they come through town, and i still have friends really into it. but i don't really feel like a part of it anymore. which is fine by me.

to jared: i really didnt mean to imply a sense of moving on, like I said i still jam albums like background music, all our tomorrows end today, my favorite words, from anger and rage and be like "man, I remember really digging this stuff" and hop right back into it and love it. but new stuff just doesnt tend to hold my interest as much for some reason, maybe im just going through a phase of wanting a lot of different sounding stuff considering i listened to this music for so long.

to scott:

idk i usually don't really voice my opinion on this matter because...my taste has just moved away so I don't really consider my opinion on anything new within the genre as overwhelmingly pertinent or valid.

I'm admitting that I'm no one to comment on a genre that i don't find myself listening to very much because I feel like MY personal taste has for the most part expanded
