View Full Version : selling your music online

Are there any job databases for composers that are free to use? I came across Film Music Network recently but it costs $6 for a non member to submit a song.

Also, would I have to register with a music publisher before using this type of service? Different companies seem to want different things. Some want exclusive deals and others let the composer retain the copyright.

I know very little about the whole process so I would really appreciate some help.

Why don't you just have 30,000 CDs printed and mail the hard copies out yourself?

hismajestythepope

destiny changing music will promote itself in the same way truly stupid people will kill themselves off before reproducing.

it is called the melodic darwin effect.

Firstly, I'm not looking to promote my music, I'm not looking for fans and I'm not even looking to write destiny changing music. I want to write background music for media companies that fits a completely different purpose. I know there is demand for this type of thing. I also know there can be a fair bit of cash involved. I just don't know where to find out about these jobs and how to apply for them. As I mentioned earlier, Film Music Network is the type of site I'm talking about...although this site charges you $6 for every file you submit.

An example:
I know a guy who sells his dance compositions to a DJ for $1000/song. I want some of this! This is purely about money.

yeah but the thing is, the best way to get your music put on tv networks and advertising and all that stuff is to have your music out there, and have a name for yourself. and the best way to do that is by promoting your stuff and hoping the right people find it and contact you.

Check out this site and you'll see what I mean though:
http://www.filmmusic.net/

You don't have to make a name for yourself to apply for these jobs. You just have to send in samples of your compositions. I want more sites like this.

And before anyone mentions it...yes, I've tried Google.
