Colbert has gone terribly downhill. I can't stand him anymore. Atleast Jon Stewart is still mostly political.

Why?
The Daily show was much better when they just made up funny new stories.
It got old to me when every episode was "Hey, Bush is a moron, lets make fun of him". I enjoy it in certain doses, but the show became more or less "The We Hate Republicans Show". It was funny for a little while, but lets face it, its trendy to be young and be a democrat. I remember my sister when my sister was a republican, she had friends of hers who were democrat shun her. Luckily I'm smart enough to form my own opinions and don't really fit into either party. If anything, I'm a libertarian.

The thing is, Bush has just much more material to make fun of. No other politician, Republican or Democrat, messes up as much.

i never understood why people use the idea that something is trendy against it. It doesn't ruin my enjoyment if it's popular right now and I don't like/do it because it is popular either
i happen to be young and lean democraticly, and enjoy the daily show. And not because its "trendy" but because i ****ing want to

Um, it is not trendy to be young and democratic. Young people have a long history of being more liberal, so it just happens naturally.
It's trendy to be libertarian, tbh.

He shits on everyone.
The show is essentially at it core (besides trying to be funny) is about exposing hypocrisy. People who say something that they clearly do not believe.
He talks about Bush because bush is the king right now. He makes fun of Obama and democrats plenty. You think he's going to ignore the presidency if Obama wins? Bullshit.
And he never mad fun of congress more than when the Democrats took over.

more or less true, maybe trendy isn't the right word. It just seems like they gravitate towards it. Then again, it definitely isn't good to be a young republican.

He shits on conservatives more. Which is good because they deserve it.

I let out a giggle. I don't think its the most ingenious joke ever, nor do I think its intended to be. Why do people have to get so serious and angsty?
Also, I don't get to watch Colbert apart from the odd snippet on the net, but his Cookie Monster interview was awesome though mostly apolitical.

i saw jon stewart interviewed on a serious note a while back (maybe before he hosted the emmys or something?), and while he refused to admit where he actually stood politically, i got the impression he was actually conservative. he seemed more disappointed at the gang of morons running his party than a hater of the republican party itself.

Conservatives don't deserve to be pooped on, the neo-cons who hijacked the republican party do. I wish people would make this distinction, because traditional conservatives are totally different than the good folks of our current administration.
