Overdone thread I know, sorry.
So my dilemma is I want headphones with the following qualities:
1. Good sound quality
2. Speakers that won't blow when I crank them
3. Sound canceling of some sort (active or otherwise)
4. Wireless (maybe?)
I'm not sure what would meet all of these qualities and fit my use, which includes work in the music studio, work in the radio studio, drumming, and bus/airplane travel (noise canceling most important for the latter as I use earplugs when drumming anyways).
I'm quite bothered that when I'm traveling I can hardly hear my music due to external noise, and though my last pair had awesome sound quality, when traveling I had to crank the volume to max just to be able to hear the music...which is badness for hearing. So as I think I stepped on my cord for the old pair one too many times, I'm finally ready to justify buying a new set.
So what are some good suggestions? Price range is $1-~$100, though of course the middle of that range is probably optimal.

If you want to be ripped off...
The Sennheiser HD280s are great.
Maybe check out the Shure in-ears if you can afford to pay that much

HD280s rock.
im actually shopping around for new headphones as well, I'm thinking about the HD280s, Denon AH-D1000s, and Beyer Dt660s. i'm leaning towards the beyers because they seem to be the most portable, as well as being circumaural and noise cancelling.

seconded, altough they aren't the most practical regarding size/transport. The HD280's have a great sound isolation quality so you won't need earplugs anymore. For everyday use (as in, public transport) I would get something cheap and simple.

I was (and still am) looking for some drumming headphones, similar to what you want. So I asked some high-quality-audio nerds what to get. :D

One pair they recommended me that you might be interested in was the Sennheiser HD 25-SP-II. They're a bit above your price range though, but apparently they're great portable iso-phones.

I'm actually looking for some good headphones or earbuds for my husband. He's the drummer in the band, and i TRULY fear that in about 10 years, i'll be writing him notes because he won't be able to hear me. I'll look into the ones listed above, but do isolation EARBUDS exist? I mean i go to rock concerts and see ear buds in the big rock stars' ears...what do they use? :)

Live they're using in-ear monitors. I'd suggest getting a pair of Vic Firth Earmuffs and a nice pair of bud-type ear phones for under them.

This.
In fact I sold a pair to the guy that bought the Roland TD20 last night.
They are extremely comfortable too.

I would recommend the Senheiser HD280 headphones. The amount of isolation on these things is pretty amazing, I use them for drumming and it seriously feels almost like I am wearing earplug when I put them on. Not to mention the sound quality is pretty damn good for sub $100 headphones, you definitely won't have any problems hearing your music either since the ohmage is low enough for use without a headphone amp.
