What musical passages and/or riffs that you know of take the longest to run through one cycle?
I was trying to think of ones today at my job, I only came up with the opener of "Hex Omega".

But it's a good riff!
What about the riff in the new Gojira song 'The Art Of Dying'?
the last riff(the awsome sounding one) lasts for a pretty long time.

Meshuggah - Catch 33?
Pretty sure Sunn O))) takes the cake here, if you can even call those riffs.
Dimmu Burger
09-18-2008, 08:00 AM
Yeah I dunno if those are riffs, but if so Sunn O))) wins. If not then Meshuggah's Catch 33 wins.

Are we talking about the length of one cycle of the riff, or the amount of time the riff is cycled?
Dimmu Burger
09-18-2008, 01:45 PM
I thought it was the length of one cycle of the riff. Catch 33 is prettymuch a 40 minute long riff.

He's looking for the riff that takes the most amount of time before it cycles through and repeats itself...so, the OPPOSITE of most of your suggestions.
